Be Merciful

The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said:

"The merciful are shown mercy by Ar-Rahman. Be merciful on the earth, and you will be shown mercy from Who is above the heavens. "

If Not Now, When?

-- If not now, when? ---

The Quran is the best remembrance. So read it.

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam told us that the best of us are those who learn the Quran and teach it. (Bukhari)) So learn and teach it.

And Allah has promised that He has made the Quran easy to remember. So memorize it.

And We have certainly made the Quran easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (Quran, al Qamar 54:17)

So, what are you waiting for?

Look To The Skies And Humble Yourself

Look up to the skies and humble yourself

Every day Allah decorates the skies but we have no time to see.

Every day He is bringing about a matter. (Quran, Ar-Rahman 55:29)

Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent - (1) [He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving - (2) [And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks? (3) Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued. (4)
(Quran, al Mulk 67:1-4)

Raise Our Children With The Quran

Raise our children with the Quran so they can love the religion of Islam.

But first we have to believe that the Quran guides to the best and leads to the best.

Indeed, this Quran guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.

(Quran, Al Isra' 17:10)

We have to believe that the Quran has the solution for everything.

And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims. (Quran, An Nahl 16:89)

Who is more truthful than Allah?

But the ones who believe and do righteous deeds - We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. [It is] the promise of Allah, [which is] truth, and who is more truthful than Allah in statement. (Quran, An Nisa 4:122)

If you have weak imaan (Faith), how can you convey this to your children?

Unlock The Hearts

--- Unlock the Hearts ---

People who refuse to contemplate on the Quran is because their hearts are locked up. That's why they don't feel the necessity to put the time and effort to think deeply on the Quran.

Then do they not reflect upon the Quran, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?
(Quran, Muhammad 47:24)

Dedicate a time in your day and discipline yourself to learning the Quran. The time belongs to Allah. Hand it over to Allah and you will be rewarded.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Convey from me, even if it be an Ayah,.."

The Purpose Of Life

--- The Purpose of Life ---

And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.

(Quran, Adh-Dhariyat 51:56)

What better purpose than to have something to do with spreading the Quran in the world,  and making the quran relationship deeper than it is now, starting with ourselves and our loved ones.

The Believer Is Awed With Quran

-- The believer is awed with Quran --

The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely -

(Quran, Al Anfal 8:2)

The Job Of The Teacher And Student

The job of a teacher is to teach patiently and the job of a student is to learn patiently. The result ... knowledge is preserved

Narrated `Uthman: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Quran and teach it."

(Bukhari)

Quran Has Been Easy

Quran has been made easy to memorize and take heed of its advice and warnings, for which everyone can benefit, whether a learned or layperson, whether young or old.

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

(Quran, Al Qamar 54:17,22,32,40)

Biggest Enemy To Learning Quran And Arabic

The biggest enemy of your learning Quran and Arabic is laziness and fear.

The key to beat laziness is to discipline yourself. In order to become successful, you need to get rid of certain habits of which laziness should be the first.

Fear is a self fulfilling prophecy.
To overcome fear, start with the basics and move little by little and no shortcuts.

Doing Good For Yourself

Nothing is better than taking opportunities and hardships and turning them into ease for this life and the next

"If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves."

(Quran, al Isra' 17:7)

Don't Over Exaggerate Your Struggles

-- Don't over exaggerate your struggles --

"Make something a big deal, it will become a big deal"

The most valuable thing Allah will look on the Day of Judgment is not your accomplishments, but your struggles.

And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives.

(Quran, al Najm 53:39)

Don't Waste Your Time

--- Don't Waste Your Time ---

You can never gain time but you are always losing time

By time, (1) Indeed, mankind is in loss, (2) Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.

(Quran, al Asr 103:3)

Appreciate The People Around You

You never really value someone and truly appreciate the amount of good they have until they are gone.  It's when one day they no longer around that you realize how much of an impact they had in your life.

So, before that time comes, appreciate those who are in your life right now, not just ulama', but your parents, teachers, spouse, children, siblings,  friends, co workers, neighbors ..... go and thank them, show your appreciation.

Allah Does Not Like Publicising Evil

Be careful, Allah does not like publicising evil except by the one who has been wronged

Allah does not like the public mention of evil except by one who has been wronged. And ever is Allah Hearing and Knowing. (148) If [instead] you show [some] good or conceal it or pardon an offense - indeed, Allah is ever Pardoning and Competent. (149)

(Quran, An Nisa 4:148-149)

Believers Stay Away From Useless Activities

The believers stay away from useless activities (laghw)

Certainly will the believers have succeeded: (1) They who are during their prayer humbly submissive (2) And they who turn away from ill speech (3)

(Quran, Al Mukminun 23:1-3)

Anything Worth Doing Requires Sacrifice

Anything worth doing requires sacrifice.

Quran Changes How You See Things Around You

The Quran changes how you see things around you.
Every time you come back to the Quran, something new opens up.

Judgment Day Reminder

If you need a reminder of the Judgment Day or if you are in doubt that you will be raised from the dead, take a good look at the earth and the plants it sprouted.

Every plant that comes out of the ground is a reminder of the Judgment Day. When it is Judgment Day, the earth will shook and rise and will sprout, instead of plants, it is going to be us.

...And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind.

(Quran, Al Hajj 22:5)

O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind.

Our Test Syllabus

Every test has a syllabus and a teacher. If we study the syllabus and follow the teacher, we will pass the test.

We will be tested in this life. The syllabus is the Quran and our teacher is the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. If we study the Quran and follow the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, there is no doubt we will pass our tests.

... Shaykh Yasir Qadhi

What Kinds Of Tests We Should Be Ready For?

What kinds of tests we should be ready for?

We will be tested on these primary tests in this life:

1. Our adherence to the laws of Allah  -- do we follow the wajibat (obligatory,), do we abstain from the prohibitions (haram), do we follow the Quran and the Sunnah.

2. Our response to what happen around us -- the good and the bad, the positives and the negatives, the life calamities. Are we patient, are we thankful, do we accept Allah's qadr (destiny)? What is our attitude to the daily events that occur in our daily lives?

Our responses are measured for everything that come to us.

Allah gives tests most suited for us -- according to our own weaknesses and strengths. No two tests are the same, in order to make it easier for us to pass. Every test Allah put upon us, He knows we can A's it. He knows we can get the highest result, if we choose to do so.

Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. (Quran, Al Baqarah 2:286)

Why Is Covid Still Here?

Covid, PKP, SOP, movement restrictions, etc, are all tests for believers.

If we do not want to fail, we need to repent and rush to good deeds - purify the heart, give rights to others, be the companion of the Quran, read the Quran every day and reflect, take the opportunity to seek knowledge/increase knowledge, take the steps to know Allah.

There are many online classes that we can choose to study the basics of Islam, Arabic, Quran, etc. Don't miss this opportunity. Don't procrastinate. Time will pass, time won't wait for us. Those who take this opportunity will gain, those who do not are in a big loss.

By time, (1) Indeed, mankind is in loss, (2) Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. (3) (Quran, Al Asr)

The covid has been here for over a year. Hundred of millions of people have died of covid. What have we achieved in terms of spirituality and knowledge in this year? How many times have we completed reading the Quran? If we started the Arabic course a year ago, we would be able to understand many of the verses of the Quran that we read. If we started memorizing the Quran at that time, we would have many ayat of the Quran in our hearts.

Covid has not been lifted yet. Why? Because many are still sleeping, heedless.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

Take advantage of five before five. Your youth before your old age, your health before your illness, your wealth before your broke, your free time before your busy, your life before your death. (Hadith)

Learn The Quran

No one wil ever collect anything better than the Ayat of the Quran in their hearts.

(Quran, Yunus 10:57-58)

O mankind, there has to come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers. (57) Say, "In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy - in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate." (58)

Focus On The Big Prize

Even something like drinks becomes incredible in Jannah because of who is giving it to you.

 (Quran, al Insaan 76:21)

Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink.

Muslim Downfall -- Learn From Our History

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wasallam

Learn from our history. It is a recurring theme in the Muslim history that when the Muslims have sincerity towards the religion of Allah, they achieved victory. Allah opened up the lands for the Muslims. When the Muslims prospered, they became corrupt and greedy and that led to the downfall.

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says,

And you love wealth with immense love.
(Quran, Al Fajr 89:20)

Love of wealth is a natural instincts of humans. That has not been condemned. What is denounced is the excessive love of wealth.

In times when the Muslims were in hardship -- when they were living in poverty and being attacked, the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace), predicted to the Companions that in the future Allah will sprout forth blessings of the land, that they would gain great wealth, and this was what he feared for them the most -- WEALTH. The companions used to eat the two black things -- dates and water. In rare occasions when they have bread, salt and oil, this was a great feast to them and they thank Allah profusely!

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:

Once the Prophet (ﷺ) sat on a pulpit and we sat around him. Then he said, "The things I am afraid of most for your sake (concerning what will befall you after me) is the pleasures and splendors of the world and its beauties which will be disclosed to you." Somebody said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Can the good bring forth evil?" The Prophet (ﷺ) remained silent for a while. It was said to that person, "What is wrong with you? You are talking to the Prophet (p.b.u.h) while he is not talking to you." Then we noticed that he was being inspired divinely. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) wiped off his sweat and said, "Where is the questioner?" It seemed as if the Prophet (ﷺ) liked his question. Then he said, "Good never brings forth evil. Indeed it is like what grows on the banks of a water-stream which either kill or make the animals sick, except if an animal eats its fill the Khadira (a kind of vegetable) and then faces the sun, and then defecates and urinates and grazes again. No doubt this wealth is sweet and green. Blessed is the wealth of a Muslim from which he gives to the poor, the orphans and to needy travelers. (Or the Prophet said something similar to it) No doubt, whoever takes it illegally will be like the one who eats but is never satisfied, and his wealth will be a witness against him on the Day of Resurrection."

Fear Allah! Don't Steal, Lie, Cheat And Oppress To Get Money

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wasallam.

Whatever rizq that is going to come to you will come to you. So seek it through halal means. Don't seek it through impermissible means. Don't steal, or cheat, or lie, or involve in haram to get it.

The stolen money is the thief's rizq but he obtained it by stealing, and Allah is angry with him. The income from selling liquor is the merchant's rizq, but he obtained it through selling haram, and Allah is angry with him. If they were patient and took the halal means to obtain it, the rizq would still come to them but with barakah and Allah's pleasure.

Haram money has no barakah in it and it will slip through your hands like water.

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wasallam.

And Allah knows best and is Most Wise, and He alone grants success, and to Him is the final return of all. Wassalaam
