When Your Children Were Young

When your children were young, they crave for your attention. But you pushed them away because you were busy with your work. When your children are older now, you crave for their attention. But how can you get their attention when they have learned to give attention elsewhere other than you.

Parents, don't fall into the mistake of believing that your work need more attention than your children. Spend time with your children from day 1. Put aside your work immediately when they come to you. Pray and eat together at least once a day. The family that pray and eat together stay together.

O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded. [Quran, at-Tahrim 66:6]

May Allah make us good parents and make our children comfort to our eyes. Aameen.

Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday) -- Overcoming Challenges

If there is a challenge in practicing your religion, look beyond yourself and pay attention to the youths in the story of the companions of the cave. Allah Most High says,

It is We who relate to you, [O Muhammad], their story in truth. Indeed, they were youths who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance. (13) And We made firm their hearts when they stood up and said, "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. Never will we invoke besides Him any deity. We would have certainly spoken, then, an excessive transgression. (14)  [Quran. Al Kahf 18:13-14]

May Allah increase us in guidance and make our hearts firm in Islam. Aameen.

The Thriving Life

It's not over when you die. There is afterlife. And Allah wants us to focus on that afterlife. The Quran constantly tells us about it. The life of the afterlife is the thriving life.

And this worldly life is not but diversion and amusement. And indeed, the home of the Hereafter - that is the [eternal] life, if only they knew. [Quran, Al Ankabut 29:64]

May Allah grant us ease in all our affairs in this life and the next. Aameen.

Hold Firmly To The Rope Of Allah

If you love your friend, invite him/her to learn and read the Quran.

And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. [Quran, AleImran 3:103]

May Allah make us His people of the Quran. Aameen.

Look Beyond

Allah created this life to test you.  Life is bumpy, ups and downs. It is meant for you to yearn for the next life. It is meant for you to wish to be there in Paradise. But to be there you have to be strong and patient with the trials and do good deeds.

Allah Most High says,

Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried? (2) But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars. (3)

[Quran, al Ankabut 29:2-3]

Being a believer, Allah sees the Iman (Faith in Allah) in your heart but He wants to see you displaying that Iman -- Iman when you are being knocked left, right and center by problems but you keep turning to Allah; Iman when you don't have much to give but you give for the sake of Allah. Worship in tribulations and difficulties have immense value.

When you are facing with life challenges, look beyond this life. Think of Paradise. If today you don't get your way, there is always tomorrow.

May Allah grant us patience and steadfastness. Aameen.

Don't Be Too Attached To This World

The world is like a bridge. Cross it but don't build on it.

Don't see the world as the whole purpose of existing.  This world should not be your end. It is a means to pleasing Allah Most High.

To your Lord is its finality. [Quran, An Nazi'at 79:44]

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Be indifferent towards this world, and Allah will love you. Be indifferent to what is in people’s hands, and they will love you.”  [Ibn Maajah]

May Allah grant us excellent ending and make our meeting with Him the best of meetings. Aameen.

Ask Allah For Outcome, Not Means To Reach The Outcome

Instead of complaining about your situation, ask Allah to help you through it.

Ask Allah for outcome instead of for means to reach an outcome. Allah knows the best way to reach the outcome you want.

E.g. Don't ask Allah for a well paying job because you don't know if it is good for you. Instead ask Allah to be self sufficient and content.

May Allah increase us in Iman and taqwa, and good deeds that benefit the creation. Aameen.

Purifying The Souls

The Prophet  (ﷺ) said,
Whoever does these three things are protected from the greed of their own souls -- pay their zakat, honor their guests and give in times of difficulty.

May Allah purify our hearts and our souls from greed. Aameen.

Take This 5 Advices

Jibreel alayhissalaam advices to Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam. We all can take from this.

**Live as you will but know that one day you will die.

So don't get attached to this world. Your purpose lies beyond this world.

**Love whom you will but know that you will be seperated from them.

Don't get attached with people because eventually you will leave them or they will leave you.

**Do as you will and know that one day you will be rewarded and compensated accordingly.

**Know that the nobility of a believer comes from his standing up in prayer at night invoking his Lord (not for being a ruler or having thousands of followers). It is being independent of people financially, emotionally, mentally and physically.

**Your dignity as a person is trying not to be dependent on people, trying to absolve yourself from needing people in any way whatsoever.

Jibreel's (A.S) Du'a Against 3 People

Jibreel alayhissalaam made du'a against 3 people.

**The one whose parents reach old age and does not honor them.
That person will be humiliated.

**The one who Ramadhan comes and goes but he is not forgiven by his Creator.
Ramadhan is a month of mercy. How come the month comes and leaves you and you are not forgiven by your Lord.

**The one who hears the name of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam but does not say.
Islam finds this offensive.

Reflections On Earthquakes

Earthquakes are not only the sign of the Day of Judgment, they should also make us think about the Day of Judgment. On that day the quake is not going to be on just one land, the entire earth will be shaking and everyone will feel the shake. Those who Allah protects will be protected. So we should feel a sense of awe and fear, and be prepared for our Day of Judgment.

When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake (1) And the earth discharges its burdens (2) [Quran, al Zalzala 99:1-2]

May Allah protect us from the great calamity. Aameen.

Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday) -- A Calamity Averting Bigger Calamity

Allah tells us in Surah Kahf that two parents lost a child and what could be a bigger calamity than that. But the Quran tells us there would be a bigger calamity if the child would grow up. The child would be the worst child imaginable, the most painful and abusive son to the parents. And that is a worse pain than a memory of an innocent child who had gone than a living child who is constantly causing you pain and stress, and be rude to you and obnoxious.

[[So they set out, until when they met a boy, al-Khidh r killed him. [Moses] said, "Have you killed a pure soul for other than [having killed] a soul? You have certainly done a deplorable thing." (74)

And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared that he would overburden them by transgression and disbelief. (80) ]]

[Quran, Al Kahf 18:74 & 80]

Even the loss of a child, Allah demonstrates that a bigger calamity can actually be lifted. So, every calamity should be looked as a potential means of averting greater calamity.

May Allah save us from all calamities. Aameen.

How To React To People's Hardships And Tragedies

In people's hardships or tragedies, our hearts should be full of  gratitude for our own blessings that we might have taken for granted.  In seeing or hearing a tragedy, we should have a sense of humility and appreciation for what we have, and reinforce and memorize this Prophetic du'a narrated by Umar r.a.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever sees a person afflicted and say: ‘All praise is due to Allah Who saved me from that which He has afflicted you with, and blessed me greatly over many of those whom He has created, (Al-ḥamdulillāhi alladhī `āfānī mimmabtalāka bihī wa faḍḍalanī `alā kathīrin mimman khalaqa tafḍīla)’ then he shall be saved from that affliction for as long as he lives.”

Calamities and Humility

Who are we to ask Allah about what He does. Rather Allah will question you about what you do.

He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.
[Quran, Al Anbiya' 21:23]

Calamities should bring about humility in us. It is to make us humble in front of Allah, to remind us of our mortality, to make us remove arrogance, to make us turn to Allah.

The Prophet  (ﷺ) when a calamity happened he would automatically stand up in prayer and increase du'a.

The wisdom of calamities is that it awakens you and bring you closer to Allah.

And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, (155)
[Quran, Al-Baqarah 2:155]

May Allah make us of those who are humble and patient, and bring us closer to Him. Ameen.
