The Essence of Ramadhan: Worship, Justice, and Good Character
Allah says, "Indeed, Allah commands justice, good conduct, and giving to relatives and forbids immorality, bad conduct, and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded. (Surah An-Nahl 16:90)
Allah commands us to practice ‘adl (justice) in worship and daily life and to go beyond that--to live with ihsan (excellence and kindness.)
Ramadhan is a time to balance our duties—between worship, work, family, and self-care; to increase acts of kindness; to reconnect with family; to avoid immorality (fahsha); to prevent evil (munkar); to stay away from oppression (baghy); to reflect and increase gratitude.
This one Ayah can serve as a roadmap for a spiritual reset. It calls for a balanced and purposeful life—something the month of fasting is designed to cultivate. If we apply this Ayah during Ramadhan, it transforms our character, makes our ibadah more meaningful, and brings us closer to Allah.
O Allah, make us just, kind, and pure-hearted. Aameen.

Maximizing Ramadhan: A Month of Spiritual Elevation
Our noble guest, Ramadhan, has arrived. How much attention are you giving to this honored ambassador of Allah? How are you treating this noble visitor? Understand that Ramadhan is a magnificent gift, not merely an obstacle to get through.
Now, reflect on how you welcome your guest. Are you setting aside worldly distractions this month? Restrain the habits influenced by Shaytan and use this sacred time to elevate your worship. If you usually complete one khatam of the Quran, strive for two this Ramadhan. Increase your Sunnah prayers, go to the masjid for prayers and taraweeh, wake up for Tahajjud, give charity daily, and make abundant du’a—especially seeking Allah’s acceptance. Involve your family in acts of worship and make this Ramadhan a transformative experience.
اللهم بارك لنا في رمضان، وأعنّا على صيامه وقيامه، وتقبّله منّا بقبول حسن، واغفر لنا فيه الذنوب، واعتق رقابنا من النار.
(O Allah, bless us in Ramadhan, help us in fasting and standing in prayer, accept it from us with a beautiful acceptance, forgive our sins, and free us from the Fire.) Aameen.
