Incorporating Qur'an in Our Lives

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

Between work/study, family and house chores, sometimes you might feel like you don't have time for anything else. Least of all Qur'an. However, learning and reading the Qur'an are as important as breathing and something we, as Muslims, should make an effort to do it everyday, without fail. Qur'an provides us with guidance, washes away our sins, adds barakah (blessing) to our day, and can be done everyday in easy, effective ways.

You might feel that you had too much to do and if you took out time to do Qur'an you would not be able to finish. But that doesn't have to be the case. Taking out even 20 to 30 minutes out of your day is not only easy but also enough time for you to benefit from the blessings of Allah's Book.

Reading a section of a Surah in Arabic and then reading it's meaning is a great way to incorporate Qur'an in your daily life.

This unaltered Book is much more than Arabic words. This Book is the Speech of our Creator, a blessing, a gift, and something not to miss.

Allah says that the Qur'an is hakeem. In the very beginning of Surah Yaa-Seen, Allah takes an oath: By the Hakeem Qur'an.

يسٓ ﴿١﴾ وَٱلْقُرْ‌ءَانِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ ﴿٢﴾ إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْ‌سَلِينَ ﴿٣﴾ عَلَىٰ صِرَ‌ٰ‌طٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ ﴿٤﴾ تَنزِيلَ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّ‌حِيمِ ﴿٥

Ya, Seen. (1) By the wise Qur'an. (2) Indeed you, [O Muhammad], are from among the messengers, (3) On a straight path. (4) [This is] a revelation of the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, (5) [Qur'an, Yaa-Seen 36:1-5]

Allah Himself is called al-Hakeem in the Qur'an multiple times. Hakeem means 'wise'. It also means “having authority.” Hakeem also has the meaning of being closely knit together. In using just one word, Hakeem, Allah leaves much for believers to reflect on. The Qur'an is wise, authoritative, and wonderfully knit together.

The Qur'an is overflowing with wisdom and guidance and is only a touch away on our smartphones and electronics. Use this blessing of technology to bring you closer to Allah and His Book, not to bring the world closer to you and to entertain your curiosity on what's going on around the globe.

Strive and discipline yourself to get into the routine of reading the Qur'an every morning and study/understand the meanings of a few ayah (verses) of the Qur'an everyday and every other chance you get. Believe me, once you have done it enough times and started to understand the meanings, you will not feel you have enough of it.

One of the pious men from the past said, “Scholars will never be satiated by the Qur'an.” He meant that scholars can never finish reading of the Qur'an and deriving benefits. The Qur'an’s wisdom is timeless. It’s the epitome of wisdom. It gives us solutions to our modern problems, soothes our restless hearts, strengthens us during times of weakness, and is our source of spiritual guidance.

Taking a few minutes out of the day to reach up to the beautifully wrapped book on your bookshelves (or downloading an app) is an easy way for us to receive the mercy and guidance from Allah's book, the Qur'an, to add peace and barakah to our daily lives, and to wash away our sins.

May Allah make us His elect people of the Qur'an and bless our remaining days on this earth with nearness to Him. Ameen.

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wassallam.

And Allah knows best and He alone grant success.
Wassalaam
