Seeking and Attaining Divine's Pleasure

The sign of Allah is well pleased with you if you are well pleased with Allah.

Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest (18)
[Quran, al Fath 28:18]

Our aim is to increase in all qualities beloved to Allah by abundant remembrance of Allah, increase good deeds and supererogatory works, and following the Sunnah. Make a conscious effort to do this. The fruits are attaining Divine contentment, the only lasting contentment that you can find in yourself. That is eternal peace.

May Allah allow us to realize this. Aameen.

Dangers of Ignorance

Cultural practices, beliefs or norms that are introduced into our societies may have nothing to do with Islam and will wind up harming people. Down the road, it will push away people from Islam or they wl have nothing to do with Islam. Islam came to prevent harm to people. It is important  to act upon sound knowledge of Islam so we don't wind up hurting people. Ignorance lead to evil and injustices.

May Allah grant us a sound understanding of the Quran and Islam. Aameen.

Sins of the Tongue -- Gossip and Talebearing

Among the sins of the tongue are gossip (ghibah) or backbiting and tale bearing (namimah).

Gossip is prevailing in many societies. Let's remind ourselves and others to be cautious of spreading this disease.

The Prophet (ﷺ) defined gossip as mentioning something about your Muslim brother that he hates such as to say; He is short, he is cross-eyed, he is rude, he likes to sleep a lot, he eats too much, his house is messy, his son is rude, he is controlled by his wife, and the like.

Allah forbids the believers from gossip and drew an analogy between gossiping and eating the flesh of his brother after his death to show the ugliness of this sin.

O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful. [Quran, al Hujurat 49:12]

One of the companions asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about the best among the Muslims, to which the Prophet replied: « He whom the Muslims are safe from his hands and his tongue. »

Talebearing(namîmah) is defined as spreading words among the believers with the purpose of stirring up enmity and problems between them.

It is reported from Hudhaifa that news reached him (the Prophet ﷺ) that a certain man carried tales. Upon this Hudhaifa remarked: "I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying: The tale-bearer shall not enter Paradise." [Muslim]

May Allah forgive our sins and protect us from the sins of gossip and talebearing. Aameen.

What's Wrong With The Kids Nowadays!

What's wrong with the kids nowadays...

We may have given our children an Islamic upbringing and a good life, but we don't control the guidance of our children or even our own selves. There is no set formula that you will receive guidance from Allah. Guidance is a gift of Allah to those He chooses. Regardless, we have to show some effort and do our best knowing full well that we are not in control.

Remember. Prophet Nuh a.s couldn't guide his son to follow him and he drowned. Prophet Yusuf a.s. grew up without his father, Prophet Ya'qub a.s, and yet he was righteous. Allah guided Yusuf and not Nuh's son and yet they both were the sons of prophets.  If we want to be in control, then we haven't internalized that we are slaves of Allah and Allah is the Master. You have to work hard to earn Allah's favor. Guidance is Allah's favor. Without Allah's guidance, we are lost.

May Allah guide us and our children on the straight path. Aameen.

Be Careful With Your Tongue

Allah, the Exalted, says about His blessings,

And if you should count the favor of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful. [Quran, Ibrahim 14:34]

The tongue is one of many blessings  Allah bestowed upon His slaves. If you use it to comply with His orders, the teachings of the Quran and the Prophet (peace and blessings  be upon him), you may earn blessings in this world and the in Hereafter.  But if you use your tongue in disobedience to Allah, you are not displaying thankfulness to Allah and could be heading towards your own destruction.

« The tongue is a great endowment
from Allah; though small in size, its crime is enormous. » Imam Ghazali

Know the sins of the tongue and do not fall into them.

May Allah protect us from falling into the sins of the tongue. Aameen.
