In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
If you don't have enough and you are worrying about where the next meal is going to come from, your worrying will distract you from Allah. You can't focus during prayer. You can't join the congregational prayer at the masjid. You can't pray with your family at home. You can't take your children to the masjid. You can't read the Qur'an. You can't learn your religion. You are busy running around trying to earn a living. You are too worried about where the next meal is going to come from to focus some time in the remembrance of Allah.
On the other hand, if you are a billionaire, then all of the things that you could do with the billion dollars will distract you from Allah because all the pleasures of the world will open up to you.
Among the greatest of your blessings is that Allah gives you just enough to live, neither too little nor too much.
If you have sufficient enough to relieve yourself of the worries of where your next meal is going to come, you have a comfortable life. The thing that is facilitated by a comfortable life is free time. Free time gives you the freedom to devote yourself to Allah. This is what you should do--devote yourself to Allah. You should not be distracted by the never ending chase behind the world. If you do that, it is showing ingratitude for the blessing that Allah has given you.
When you see as a blessing, you show gratitude to Allah. You use the blessing to draw closer to Allah.
"And remember! Your Lord caused to be declared (publicly): 'If you are grateful, I will add more (favors) unto you; But if you show ingratitude, truly My punishment is terrible indeed.'" Qur'an Ibrahim 14:7
"We bestowed (in the past) Wisdom on Luqman: 'Show (your) gratitude to God." Any who is (so) grateful does so to the profit of his own soul: but if any is ungrateful, verily God is free of all wants, Worthy of all praise.'" Qur'an Luqman 31:12 (It is said that Luqman belonged to a humble station in life, being a slave or a carpenter, and that he refused worldly power and a kingdom.)
May Allah give you success. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. JazakAllahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
