The sunnah is not to just do good deeds but to excel in them.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, “Verily, Allah has prescribed excellence in everything. If you have to kill, kill in the best manner. If you have to slaughter, slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife, so his animal is spared of suffering.” [Muslim]
