The unshaken belief

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

"And when thy Lord took from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed, and made them testify touching themselves, 'Am I not your Lord?' They said, 'Yes, we testify'-- lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, 'As for us, we were heedless of this,' Qur'an Al-A'raf 7:172

Just as we know that it is wrong to lie, steal and cheat, deep inside people know that it is wrong to disbelieve. While we believe, Alhamdulillah, but how strong is our faith--are we certain in our beliefs? Look at our actions and our desires--are they all about seeking Allah's good pleasure? If not, then it is a sign that we are not all sure about what we believe.

"Those who submit themselves completely to Allah and do good have grasped the Firmest Handhold. The end result of all affairs is with Allah." Qur'an Luqman 31:22

An inspiring personality in strengthening and improving our faith is Abu Bakr, Allah be well pleased with him. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave him the title as-Siddiq for his power to discern the truth. His faith was too strong to be shaken by anything. He sacrificed everything for the sake of Allah and he was everything to the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace. He was a man with great aspirations but his aspirations were only to please Allah. And so he became the best Companion and the greatest after the Prophets.

"As for him who gives out and has taqwa (godfearingness) and confirms the Good, We will pave his way to Ease. But as for him who is stingy and self-satisfied, and denies the Good, We will pave his way to Difficulty. Qur'an Al-Layl 92:5-10

"Those with most taqwa (godfearing) will be far removed from it, those who give their wealth to purify themselves, not to repay someone else for a favour done, desiring only the Face of their Lord Most High, only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; and he shall surely be satisfied. Qur'an Al-Layl 92:17-21

May Allah makes us among the people of taqwa. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

Allah mentions them to those in His presence

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu Alaykum

I pray that you are well.

Abu Hurayra, Allah be well pleased with him, related that the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "A group does not gather in one of the houses of Allah Most High reciting Qur'an and studying it together, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy envelopes them, the angels encompass them, and Allah mentions them to those in His presence. (Muslim)

MashaAllah we had a great turnout for the khatma last night at Masjid Al-Ittehad and many Amin to the du'a (including the angels inshaAllah and Allah knows best). May Allah accept our worship and du'a. May Allah draw us closer to Him and give us tawfiq to continue reciting His words everyday. Amin.

Our next khatma will be on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 7pm (California time) inshaAllah. Please continue reading at a least a juz of the Qur'an a day with your family and invite your friends and circle of influence to do so. "Help one another to piety and godfearing; do not help each other to sin and enmity. And fear God; surely God is terrible in retribution." Qur'an Al-Ma'idah 5:2

Reciting the Qur'an is a great act of worship. Every letter you recite will earn you the pleasure of Allah and will draw you closer to Him Subhanahu. A person should maintain his recitation and do much of it.

Abi Dawud related from the Righteous Forebears, Allah be well pleased with them, that some of them would finish the Qur'an once very two months, once every month, once every 10 nights, 8 nights; most of them every 7 nights, some every 6, 5, 4, 3, or 2 nights, some everyday and night, twice everyday and night, twice each day, and 8 times each day--4 by night and 4 by day. Uthman ibn Affan, Allah be well pleased with him, and Imam Shafi'i and Mujahid, Allah have mercy on them, completed recitation of the Qur'an every day.

A hadith of Anas, Allah be well pleased with him, said that the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "The best of works are al-hall and al-rihlat." It was asked, "what are they?" He said, "Beginning the Qur'an and completing it."

May Allah grant us tawfiq. Amin. Please do not forget us in your prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.

True understanding of the religion

BismillahirRahmanirRahim
Assalaamu alaykum

I pray that you are doing well.

When we go about our daily lives, have the judgment day in mind. Are we doing something that will benefit us on that Day or are we doing something that is going to harm us on that Day?

"Upon that day men shall issue in scatterings to see their works, and whoso has done an atom's weight of good shall see it, and whoso has done an atom's weight of evil shall see it." Qur'an The Earthquake 99:6-8

"And when the Blast shall sound, upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, his mother, his father, his consort, his sons, every man that day shall have business to suffice him. Some faces on that day shall shine, laughing, joyous; some faces on that day shall be dusty, overspread with darkness." Qur'an Abasa 80:33-41

Are those things that you are going to do are going to count for you or against you? The mark of a true understanding of the religion is when you follow the religion with this view. So, keep this in mind when you take your next step. And Allah is All Seeing, All Hearing. He can see even a black ant under a black stone in a pitch black night and can hear even the tying of your shoelace. SubhanAllah.

"Whoso desires the reward of this world, with God is the reward of this world and of the world to come; God is All-hearing, All-seeing." Qur'an An-Nisaa 4:134

And Allah loves the good-doers.

"And obey Allah and His Messenger (Allah bless him and grant him peace,) that you may be shown mercy. And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord; and a Garden, the extensiveness of which is (as) the heavens and the earth, it is prepared for those who guard (against evil). Those who spend (benevolently) in ease as well as in straitness, and those who restrain (their) anger and pardon men; and Allah loves the doers of good (to others)." Qur'an AleImran 3:132-134

May Allah make us among the God fearing and the good-doers. Ameen.

And Allah knows best.

Don't fall into error

BismillahirRahmanirRahim
Assalaamu alaykum

I pray that you are well.

"Is one who is obedient to Allah, prostrating himself or standing (in prayer) during the hours of the night, fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the Mercy of his Lord (like one who disbelieves)? Say: "Are those who know equal to those who know not?" It is only men of understanding who will remember (i.e. get a lesson from Allah's Signs and Verses)." Qur'an Azzumar 39:8

See you not that Allah sends down water (rain) from the sky, and We produce therewith fruits of varying colors, and among the mountains are streaks white and red, of varying colors and (others) very black. And likewise of men and Ad-Dawabb (moving (living) creatures, beasts), and cattle, of various colors. It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allâh. Verily, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Forgiving. Qur'an Faatir 35:27-28

Learning the sacred knowledge is key to our success with Allah. But be careful from who we learn our religion so we don't fall into error. Learn from the one who has the knowledge and is Godfearing. These are the people who are sound in their hearts. May Allah guide us to them. Ameen.

And Allah knows best.
