At The Heart Level

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

Everyone is always dependent on Allah's creation to a certain degree.

For example, if you are not handy, you have to rely on people to fix things around your house. You have to rely on a plumber to fix your toilet leaks. If you don't own a car or if you don't drive, then you depend on public transportation to get you to work, school, stores or generally get you around. But at the heart level, the reliance is not on other things except Allah Almighty, the Creator of everything.

So, when the plumber broke the toilet flushing system after fixing your toilet, the nature of the nafs is to get upset, might resort to call him names, and refuse to pay him, or if you have paid him, you might demand your money back, but if you have put your reliance on Allah, then you are patient and will calmly resolve the situation. If you rely on public transportation and the workers have been on strike for many weeks demanding more pay, what would you do?

We all will come across some type of difficulty--big or small. At the first moment of that difficulty, the nature of the lower self (nafs) is to rely on things--such as people, salary, looks, prestige, status, knowledge, donkeys, horses, etc. But if at that moment, the first thing that come to your heart is your reliance upon Allah, you will find amazing things open before you.

But if they turn away, [O Muhammad], say, "Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne."

[Qur'an At-Tawba 9:129]

May Allah help us turn towards Him. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
