A Morsel of Flesh

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

In all our actions we have a decision to make. What governs our decision is Allah, Mighty and Majestic.

Islam is the religion of the heart. Everything we do, its fruit is reflected in the heart and the heart is the worth in every human being.

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
...Certainly, in the body there is a morsel of flesh, which if it is sound then the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt the whole body is corrupt. Certainly it is the heart."
[Bukhari and Muslim]

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
Verily Allah does not look at your bodies nor to your forms; but rather He looks at your hearts.
(Muslim)

It is a heart that is wholesome, a heart that doesn't have hatred and grudges against others, but there is peace, free of diseases such as rancor, envy, arrogance, pride and other blameworthy traits, perpetually until you meet Allah.

And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - (87) The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children (88) But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart. And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. (90) And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, (91) And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship (92) Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" (93) So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators (94) And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. (95) They will say while they dispute therein, (96) "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error (97) When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. (98) And no one misguided us except the criminals. (99) So now we have no intercessors (100) And not a devoted friend. (101) Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " (102)
[Quran Shu'araa 26:88-102]

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Islam is public, whereas Iman is in the heart." That is because actions are manifest publicly, and affirmation, which is in the heart, does not become manifest.

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to say in his supplication when performing the prayer over the dead, "O Allah, whomever of us you make to live, let him live in Islam, and whomever of us you make to die, let him die in Iman," because deeds are done by the limbs which one is only able to do while alive. Then, at death, nothing remains but the heart's affirmation.

May Allah purify our hearts and enable us to live by Islam and make all our actions pleasing to Him. Ameen.

Please don't forget us in your night prayers and please pray for the Ummah. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
