Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday) -- Learn Patience and Humility

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wasallam.

Quran is guidance for those conscious of Allah (the Muttaqeen). It is also a means of gathering blessings and reward from Allah.

Reading Surah Al-Kahf is something we should look forward to every Friday. There are many lessons in the four stories in the Surah (the companions of the cave, the men with the two gardens, the story of Musa and Khidr, and Dhulkarnain) and each time we read them, we should be reminded of them and hopefully we are quick to action.

Prophet Musa alayhissalaam once told his people that he is the most knowledgeable person on earth, possessing portals of knowledge and wisdom. And so Allah revealed to him that there is someone who knows more. What did Musa learn from Al-Khidr? He learned to be patient and humble.

Learning knowledge needs patience. Sometimes Allah might test our patience just to see whether we are worthy of the knowledge or not.

Humility is a trait of the true servants of Allah.

And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace,  [Quran, Al Furqan 25:63]

Keep yourself busy with learning this religion and learn it from someone who has good morals, particularly patience and humility.

Read the Quran everyday. Don't say "I'm busy with work!"

Make a point to memorize the entire Quran, at least make an intention. Don't say, "I have a hard time memorizing the Qur'an!" Remember,

...None but shaytan made me forget to remember” (Quran, Al-Kahf 18:63)

Can shaytan spoil your memory? No, but he keeps you busy with one thing to forget another. When you choose to follow the path of knowledge, Allah exposes a path for you to Paradise.

May Allah bless us with good memory and enable us to memorize the Quran and make us of those who are patient and humble. Aameen.

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wasallam.

And Allah knows best and is Most Wise, and He alone grants success, and to Him is the final return of all.

Wassalaam
