This World Is Not Worth It

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

This world is designed to disappoint us. No matter how much a person has, all the fame, power, money, wealth, children, family, health, knowledge, friends, protection and safety, comfort and luxuries, and so on, they are not lasting--they are always prone to disappear. This is the nature of dunya. Allah created them and Allah can take them away at any moment.

We can actually see this a lot during this world economic crisis--lay offs, fold up businesses, revolutions, etc. You can see people lose protection very quickly. One event can turn safety into fear. People lose their homes, parents lose their children, children lose their parents, spouses lose their spouses.

In normal realm, it also has its share of dysfunction--friends turn against friends, brothers against brothers, children against parents, spouses against spouses, workers against employers, people against their leaders, etc.

We see or hear deaths every day. We might be next. So this world is not worth it. Whether you work, marry, having children, pursue knowledge or do any other good deed, if you do it for this world it is not worth it.

Whatever we do in this life, do it for the sake of Allah Almighty only. Make Him our only goal in this life and we won't be sorry when we face the two questioners in the grave alone.

When the son of Adam dies and his soul departs and he is placed in his grave, then he is in the first stage of the Hereafter, because the grave is the first of the stages of the Hereafter.

It was narrated that Haani’ the freed slave of ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affaan said:
When ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affaan stood by a grave he would weep until his beard became wet. It was said to him, “You remember Paradise and Hell and you do not weep, but you weep because of this?” He said, “The Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: ‘The grave is the first of the stages of the Hereafter; whoever is saved from it, whatever comes afterwards will be easier for him, but if he is not saved from it, what comes afterwards will be worse for him.’” And the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “I have never seen any scene but the grave is more frightening than it.
[Tirmidhi, ibn Majah]

It was narrated from Aisha that the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to say:
(O Allah! I seek refuge with You from laziness and old age, and from debts and sins; from the torment of the Fire and from the tribulation of the Fire, and from the tribulation of the grave and the torment of the grave, and from the evil of the tribulation of wealth, and from the evil of the tribulation of poverty, and from the evil of the tribulation of the Dajjaal (Antichrist). O Allah! Wash away my sins with the water of snow and hail, and cleanse my heart from sin as a white garment is cleansed from filth, and put a great distance between me and my sins, as great as the distance You have made between the East and the West)
[Bukhari]

May Allah protect us from the trials and tribulations of this life and the next. Ameen.

Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
