Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
If you don't busy your time with the good, it will busy you with the bad. Time is like a sword, if you don't cut it, it cuts you. You are essentially at war with time--if you surrender, it will pass you by without benefit; if you fight it, it will pass by in spite of you but you benefit.
Narrated by Ibn 'Abbaas, may Allah be pleased with father and son, who said that Allah's Messenger, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
Now reflect on your life. How many years had gone by in sleeping, eating and disobeying Allah? How many days, hours, minutes and seconds had gone by without remembrance of Allah. Imagine if all those years were filled with the remembrance of Allah, Allah would've remembered us.
Allah Most High says,
We should have this sense of urgency because we don't have much time to prepare for our meeting with Allah. If you don't have a good intention and a good reason to do something and if this thing you are doing is for your nafs, then don't waste your life for it.
All the life span on this earth combined is nothing compared to the time we will spend waiting in the Day of Judgment.
The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said that some of the people on that Day would be very affected by the sun, more intense than the heat of the sun in this world. Some people would sweat profusely. The sweat of some will cover their feet, while others will reach their knees. For some it will cover their whole lower body and for some other, it would reach their mouths. The level of sweat increases with the level of his sinning.
With the sun so close, some of the people will be shaded and will not be hurt by the sun. These are the Prophets and their pious followers. They will be shaded under Al-'Arsh (the Throne), the largest creation.
In a hadith, the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, tells us about seven kinds of people that will be shaded from the sun by the 'Arsh on the Day of Judgment. They will be on shining high places on the Day of Judgment. The seven kinds are:
1. The just ruler. Despite being in a position of power over people, he controls himself and is just with the people.
2. The one who grows up adhering to the obedience of Allah and stayed away from sinning even when young.
3. The one who is attached to the mosque. It is hard for the person to overcome his bad inclinations and come back to the mosque for every prayer but the one who overcomes his weaknesses and loves to come to the mosque for every prayer reaches a high status.
4. The people who love each other for the sake of Allah. They advise each other to do good deeds and to leave the bad deeds. They come together for the sake of Allah and leave each other for the sake of Allah.
5. The one who is called to fornication by a woman of high social status and beauty and says, “I fear Allah. I will not do that.”
6. The one who pays charity in secret, to the extent that his left hand does not know what his right hand does.
7. The one who mentions Allah when he is alone and cries out of fearing Him.
May Allah grant us works pleasing to Him and shade us where there is no other shade except under His Throne. Ameen.
Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.

There are two blessings which many people lose: health and free time.[Bukhari]
Now reflect on your life. How many years had gone by in sleeping, eating and disobeying Allah? How many days, hours, minutes and seconds had gone by without remembrance of Allah. Imagine if all those years were filled with the remembrance of Allah, Allah would've remembered us.
Allah Most High says,
فَٱذْكُرُونِىٓ أَذْكُرْكُمْ وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ لِى وَلَا تَكْفُرُونِ[Qur'an al-Baqarah 2:152]
So remember Me, and I will remember you; and be thankful to Me; and be you not ungrateful towards Me.
We should have this sense of urgency because we don't have much time to prepare for our meeting with Allah. If you don't have a good intention and a good reason to do something and if this thing you are doing is for your nafs, then don't waste your life for it.
