In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
Islam has made a reward for showing mercy to Allah's living creatures.
An unchaste woman was rewarded Paradise by showing mercy to a thirsty dog. Allah showed her His mercy and pardoned her because of that.
The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that." (Bukhari]
It has been narrated that the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw a cat in his home which came to a vessel of water and wanting to drink from it, but the water was too high for the cat. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, came and inclined the vessel and brought the water near to the mouth of the cat so that it could drink. Some of the Companions saw that and said, "O Messenger of Allah, you treat this animal like this?" How great is this mercy and his tenderness.
Mistreatment of Allah's living creatures can take one to Hell.
The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "A woman was tortured and was put in Hell because of a cat which she had kept locked till it died of hunger." Allah's Apostle further said, "(Allah knows best) Allah said (to the woman), 'You neither fed it nor watered when you locked it up, nor did you set it free to eat the insects of the earth.'" [Bukhari and Muslim]
Once Abu Masud Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, was beating his slave when he heard a voice behind him say, "Abu Masud! Allah has more power and control over you than you have over this slave." Abu Masud turned and saw that it was Allah's Messenger, Allah bless him and grant him peace. He said, "O Allah's Messenger! I free this slave for the pleasure of Allah." The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, replied, "If you had not done so, the fire of Hell would have touched you."
May Allah make our hearts tender and save us from Hellfire. Ameen.
Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
Our adorable little Kitty
