Falling Short

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

Allah says,

أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ ﴿٨﴾ وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ ﴿٩

Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? And a tongue and a pair of lips?
(Qur'an Balad 90:8-9)

Fudayl recited this verse one night and started crying. He was asked about his crying and said, "Have you spent a single night thanking Allah that he made you two eyes with which you see? Have you spent a single night, thanking Allah that He made you a tongue that you speak with?"

In truth, we are not able to thank Allah for His blessings. There are people who thought their actions were sufficient gratitude for the blessings and turned out that the worship of the lifetime barely equal the blessings of the eyesight. We are always falling on the short side, not on the surplus, but for the kindness of Allah, He accepts our gratitude.

We appreciate Allah's kindness by using His blessings as a means to draw near to Him.

The believer speaks little and does a lot, whereas the hypocrite (munafiq) speaks a lot and does little. When the believer speaks, it is with wisdom, when he is silent, it is in deep thought, when he sees, he takes lessons, and when he acts, it is a cure. If this is the way you are, then you are in the constant worship (of your Lord.) [Al-Fudayl 'Ayyad]

May Allah bring us closer to Him and not leave us alone even for a blinking of an eye. Ameen.

Please don't forget us in your night prayers and pray for the Ummah. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
