In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
All deeds - good or bad - have a sort of magnetic pull of their own.
When a person accomplishes a good deed, other good deeds become easy on him. His very heart starts desiring to do what is good and righteous.
Likewise, a person who commits a sin finds that it has cleared the way for other sins. His very heart starts desiring to do what is sinful. Therefore, avoid sins and everything that can lead to eventual sin.
Allah Almighty says,
[Qur'an Al-Baqarah 2:148]
...So race to [all that is] good...
Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
Be prompt in doing good deeds (before you are overtaken) by turbulence which would be like a part of the dark night. A man would be a believer in the morning and turn to disbelief in the evening, or he would be a believer in the evening and turn disbeliever in the morning, and would sell his Faith for worldly goods.
Always seek every opportunity to do a good deed. Ramadhan is still here. So your opportunity is still open to multiply the reward of your good deeds. Behave towards people with good character. Help the poor and the needy, aid the weak and the oppressed and strengthen bonds of kinship. Don't oppress or wrong anyone nor harm the environment. Help clean the environment and be merciful to animals. Increase your connection with the Qur'an.
Follow a bad deed with a good deed through charity and other good actions.
Allah Almighty says,
[Qur'an Hud 11:114-115]
Establish Salah at both ends of the day, and in the early hours of the night. Surely, good deeds erase bad deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful. (114) And be patient, for Allah does not let the reward of the righteous go to waste. (115)
Allah Almighty says,
[Qur'an Ar-Rahman 55:60]
Is the reward for good [anything] but good? (60)
Repentance is a road to good. Moist our tongues with Istighfar (seeking Allah's forgiveness). None of us is free from sins. We sin by day and by night. If you think that you have no sin, this is arrogance.
Allah Almighty says,
Qur'an Az-Zumar 39:72]
To them] it will be said, "Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant. (72)
[Qur'an Az-Zumar 39:60]
...Is there not in Hell a residence for the arrogant? (60)
[Qur'an Ghafir 40:35]
...Thus does Allah seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant. (35)
A believer should follow up his sincere repentance with the performance of good works.
Allah Almighty says,
[Qur'an Taha 20:82]
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance. (82)
May Allah grant us good in this life and the next. Ameen.
Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
