In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
What is in our hearts is reflected in our actions. So those who have taqwa (Godfearing, God consciousness, piety, righteousness), their actions will be different than those who do not. Exert ourselves in ensuring that our actions reflect the taqwa in our hearts.
People who have Taqwa are those who:
1) believe in the unseen,
2) establish prayer,
3) spend out of what Allah has provided for them,
4) believe in what has been revealed to Prophet Muhammad, Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the what was revealed before him, and
5) believe in the Hereafter
Allah clearly explains that the Qur'an is a guidance for those who have taqwa in their hearts and this guidance, if followed, causes them to be successful.
Allah Almighty says,
[Qur'an Al-Baqarah 2:2-5]
This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah - (2) Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, (3) And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. (4) Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. (5)
The companions and the pious predecessors used to exert themselves in worship. It is said that Ibn Omar used to stay awake the whole night if he missed a prayer in congregation (because he knew, through the Taqwa in his heart, Allah’s pleasure associated with one praying in congregation.
Imam Ghazali mentioned that we let ourselves (our nafs) off the hook when it (our nafs) is our biggest enemy and is more likely to rebel against our own selves (Ihya’ul ulum al-din, 4/381).
About Taqwa in our actions, Abu Dhar reported that the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
Fear Allah wherever you may be; follow up an evil deed with a good one which will wipe (the former) out, and behave good-naturedly towards people.[Tirmidhi]
May Allah increase us in taqwa and make us among the Muttaqin (people of taqwa). Ameen.
Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
