In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
It's the nature of human to to be good to each other. We see this a lot especially in times of common disaster. People tend to come together in these times regardless of nationality, race, religion or color. For the past week we see in Malaysia how people all over the world, experts, general worker, governments, volunteers, military, civilians, etc, contribute and work together to help find the missing commercial airliner MH370 with all on board and help solve the mystery of its disappearance. But our differences can get in the way of peace and unity, and when this is over and no longer in the forefront, people will start to fight again.
Why do people fight? It is pride that makes people rivals, even involve in physical conflicts and killing each other, and forget this bond of goodness that we should have with each other, as visitors of this ephemeral world. Without pride, there is really nothing to fight.
Don't forget that we are in the same boat and there is no way we can get to our destination safe and sound without each other and surely we will sink together if we fight.
Look into our hearts now and remove any pride that we have. We ask Allah to purify our hearts and remove all blameworthy traits and grant us praiseworthy traits.
Take this as an opportunity to draw close to Allah. Don't pass this opportunity by gluing ourselves to the news or start accusing or speculating. If you can't contribute directly to the search efforts, make du'a for those involved. It is the easiest and potent contribution that anyone can make. But don't feel that you are doing them a favor. Du'a is more for us than for anyone else because du'a is your worship and you are rewarded for it. For Allah has His plan and He is executing His plan and He doesn't need our asking Him to do anything before He does something.
Remember, Allah is testing us with this event and all the events in the world that are currently happening. So don't fail it.
[Qur'an Al-Baqarah 2:155-156]
And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, (155) Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." (156)
We ask Allah to protect those on board MH370 and aid those who are suffering in the world. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.
Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakum Allahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
