Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday) -- The Greatest Thing We Can Desire

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

Assalaamu alaykum

In Surah AL-Kahf, Allah Most High tells us that,

Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope. (46) [Quran, Al-Kahf 18:46]

'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, 'Cultivation is of two kinds. Wealth and children are the cash crops of the mortal world while 'وَٱلْبَـٰقِيَـٰتُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ (enduring good deeds)' are the deferred crops of the Hereafter.'

We all desire great wealth and great children. But the greatest thing we can desire is desiring the closeness to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala-- to desire what comes from the presence of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and the Akhirah (Hereafter).

If you desire Allah, be where Allah wants you to be and don't be where He doesn't want you to be. Allah sees what you do at all times. If you are aware that Allah sees you, you will feel ashamed before Allah. So, be where Allah has commanded you to be and never be where Allah doesn't want you to be. Allah wants you to be in prayer five times a day (in congregation), to be aware of the amount that you have to pay your zakat and pay it on time, to give charity, to perform the pilgrimage (if you able to), to fast in Ramadhan, to be kind to your parents, to give others their due rights. Your feet is one of your seven limbs and we only want to walk in ways and places that are beloved to Him.

We can receive great blessings if we do what our Lord has commanded us to do and if we do what is beloved to Him.

It is very easy for us to become deceived as human beings. How serious we take our relationship with Allah is the degree to which we prepare for the Akhirah.

May Allah grant us closeness to Him and the highest Paradise. May Allah protect us from where He doesn't want us to be and save us from the Hellfire. Ameen.

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wasallam.

And Allah knows best and is Most Wise, and He alone grants success, and to Him is the final return of all.

Wassalaam
