Why are people put in difficult situations by Allah?
Everything we have (health, time, wealth, children, knowledge, status, etc) including our own bodies, belong to Allah. They are gifts from Allah. We get these gifts not because we deserve them but Allah chose to give them to us.
So don't grieve over things you lose and become overjoyed over things you gain because all these gifts are temporary and we ourselves are temporary. We belong to Allah as well, and to Him we shall be returning.
No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allah, is easy - (22) In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful - (23) (Surah Al Hadid)
