Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
We get something going the right way then something happen--the rug is pulled from under us. People never cease to disappoint us, giving us so much problems. Why so much problems? That could be Allah is showing His love to us. He wants to teach us something.
Only He is Perfect. This life never stays the same. This world always changing. The only thing that stay and last is our works for the sake of Allah. Seize the moment because the moment is the stage on which act is performed. Seize opportunities with good works, not things. "Take advantage of five matters before five other matters: your youth, before you become old; and your health, before you fall sick; and your richness, before you become poor; and your free time before you become busy; and your life, before your death."
People who disappoint you today, tomorrow they can be your best allies or your best friends. Turn to Him, the One who alters things and changes heart. Be patient.
May Allah guide our loved ones and makes us among the patient. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. JazakAllahu khairan.

It Is Righteousness...
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well and Ramadhan Kareem.
When you pray and fast but if the heart is not there, you missed out on the sweetness of praying and fasting. The moment you finished your taraweeh prayer, you rushed out. To what?
Allah deserves more of your time than anyone/anything else all the time. He is the One who can expand and constrict your time. So take 20 minutes after the taraweeh and read the translation/tafsir of the section of the Qur'an recited at the night's taraweeh before you go home. It will keep you fresh and refresh and make Ramadhan and taraweeh more meaningful inshaAllah. InshaAllah you will learn more about your Creator.
Don't try to postpone this and don't think you can find the 20 minutes at home because once you are home, most likely you will not be able to get to do this -- you will find the bed or you have more familial or social duties to take care of.
From the Holy Qur'an Al-Baqarah 2:177
It is not righteousness that you turn your faces to the East and to the West, but it is righteousness - to believe in Allah, and the Last Day, and the angels, and the Book, and the Prophets, to spend of your substance out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves, to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity, to fulfill the contracts which you have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing.
May Allah accept your prayer and fasting. Ameen. Please don't forget me and all the Muslims in your prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

Your Clock Is Ticking
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that that you are well.
Say "If you do love Allah, follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins; for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." Qur'an AleImran 3:31
When you love somebody, you would put them in high esteem, think about them a lot, you would sacrifice yourself for them. So love is not lip service, not something you can just claim how you feel. There is no love without giving. Love is not an abstract feeling, but a feeling and an action.
'Umar ibn Al-Khattab, Allah be pleased with him, loved the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, very much and one day he told the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, "O Messenger of Allah, I love you more than everything except myself." The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, told him, "Not until you love me more than yourself." 'Umar came back and said, "O Messenger of Allah, now I love you more than everything including myself." With that the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to him, "Now you have attained a complete faith."
If you love the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, you would consider his sunnah to be more important than your own interest and when the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, ask to do something in the hadith you would be willing to do it regardless of what people think of you. You should not just think the sunnah as the outward sunnah but also how the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant peace, lived his life. He lived his life being an example, teaching and fighting in the way of Allah.
In order to know about the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, you have to put time learning Islam. People often complain about not having the time to study the religion, not even to go to weekly Islamic study groups at the masjid or yearly Islamic conventions because they are busy (you name it what they are busy about), busy working, working hard for time is difficult. But this is not an excuse.
As Muslims, you need to work for this life and work for the next life. You cannot do for one and forget the other. You need to do for both. So you have to work harder. In order to succeed, you have to cut your sleep, you have to cut your entertainment and idle time, you have to stay away from arguing, fighting, backbiting and gossiping. A Muslim can't afford to waste time. Allah already ordained the exact amount of time you are in this world. Your clock is ticking. Every minute that passes by, you are that much closer to death--to meeting your Creator. What have you prepared for that moment?
May Allah bless our time and only take us at the highest of Iman. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

Forgive! Forgive! Forgive!
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
We try our best not to sin but a sin that drives you towards Allah is better than the worship that make you feel that you are better than others. Don't look down upon a sinner for the wheel is still spinning. Tomorrow the sinner might repent and he/she becomes the beloved of Allah. Allah is at-Tawwab. He not only is the One who accepts repentance but also the One who guides us towards repentance, and he guides whomever He wills. When someone sincerely repents, he is similar to the one that has no sin.
If people do wrong to you, forgive, forgive, forgive them--don't even hesitate. You don't lose anything by forgiving people. In fact, you gain the key to Paradise. In this life you will feel like a butterfly--light and free. Why? Because that weight of holding grudges, hatred and bad feelings disappear from your heart. Your heart is now lightened. So why would you not want to forgive people, why do you want to hold on to your bad feelings, grudges or hatred? How is this--you want Allah to forgive you but you don't want to forgive people?
Remember, Allah is the One who created our final abodes. Our concern should be where we are going to land after this world, not who did what to us from ages ago or even from yesterday. Move on towards Allah, the King of Kings, the best of Judges.
Maybe you cannot see Allah, but you can see Allah's great attributes. They are clear in our lives. But often we just pass them by because we are too busy with our lives or simply not interested.
"Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for people of pure understanding. Those who remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted are You above all that they associate with You as partners). So, save us from the torment of the Fire." Qur'an AleImran 3:190-191
So accustom and occupy yourself to look and reflect on Allah's creations instead of bickering among yourselves.
"Only those believe in Our signs who, when they are reminded of them, fall down prostrate and proclaim the praise of their Lord, not waxing proud. Their sides shun their couches as they call on their Lord in fear and hope; and they expend of that We have provided them. No soul knows what comfort is laid up for them secretly, as a recompense for that they were doing. What? Is he who has been a believer like unto him who has been ungodly? They are not equal. As for those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, there await them the Gardens of the Refuge, in hospitality for that they were doing. But as for the ungodly, their refuge shall be the Fire; as often as they desire to come forth from it, they shall be restored into it, and it shall be said to them, 'Taste the chastisement of the Fire, which you cried lies to.' Qur'an As-Sajda/Prostration 32:15-20
May Allah guide us and give us tawfiq. Ameen. Please keep us in your night prayers. Jazakum Allahu khairan.

Seize the moment
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
I pray that you are well.
One day you have something and the next day that something is gone. You made all these plans and in the end it didn't happen. Don't wonder. Don't despair. Allah, the One who is responsible over everything, He is able to do what He wants. He can change everything and anything. He organizes and reorganizes. We are but helpless without Him, al-Karim.
"God turns about the day and the night; surely in that is a lesson for those who have eyes." [Qur'an 24:44]
All we need to do is seize the moment in worship of Him and obedience to Him.
"I swear by the time! Surely Man is in the way of loss, save those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and counsel each other truth, and counsel each other patience." [Qur'an, Al-'Asr 103:1-3]
Take advantage of the five before five.
The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to a man while he was advising him:
"Take advantage of five matters before five other matters: your youth, before you become old; and your health, before you fall sick; and your richness, before you become poor; and your free time before you become busy; and your life, before your death."
You should exercise the energy that you have for the sake of Allah by procuring knowledge of Allah, obtaining halal sustenance, and worshiping Allah through acts that you might not be able to do later on in life.
We all fall sick at one time or another. If we did not fall sick, we would not be humans. Some sicknesses can be more severe that the other, and for certain people even more severe. We won't know how long we will have full possession of our faculties before we fall sick. Therefore, take advantage of it before that time comes.
The majority of mankind do not appreciate these two blessings--good health and free time. We don't want to be among those!
Do not forget to invest for your next life, the real eternal life, so you can pick the fruits when you need it the most. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Verily, the money that you spend in charity is your money, and the money that you leave behind is the money of your inheritors." Do you love your own money more or the money of your inheritors?
How much free time do we have and what do we waste it on? Think about it. Spending time wisely does not necessarily mean doing purely religious deeds. Islam is a complete way of life. Many acts can be rewarded if you change your intention and do them for the sake of Allah. But everyone of us should recite the Qur'an everyday, even if it is only for five or ten minutes. Surely, you can find 5 or 10 minutes everyday to build this relationship with the Qur'an. Everyone of us should pray some extra prayers as well, a few sunnahs. One of the greatest act of worship is to seek beneficial knowledge. Do whatever you can to increase your knowledge of Islam--have a daily routine. These are some of the most important religious deeds to fill your time. Don't start with the distractors--TV and the like--the greatest waste of time are these things. There is more to life than them! Read a book instead.
You are only allowed one life on this earth and you will not be able to come back and change that life. For every good you do you will be rewarded, and for every evil you do you will be punished. Inna lillahi wainna ilayhi raji'un. When you are in your grave, the only thing that will follow you that can help you is your Iman and good deeds. So seize the moment in doing righteous deeds and not let a moment pass you by without remembrance of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala
May Allah guide is to excellence and give us tawfiq. Ameen.

Blessings of free time and health

Assalaamu alaykum
I pray that you are well.
Free time is a blessing which few have. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace said: There are two blessings that many people fall short in benefiting from--health and free time.
We work, study, take care of family and social responsibilities and these take a toll on our time. When we are finally free of these at the end of the day, we must acknowledge this favor from Allah, the One Who created us and sustains us in every breadth we take. We pray and pray more--pray the sunnah connected to the obligatory prayers, the various sunnah prayers, the mid morning prayer, the night prayers, read the Qur'an everyday, do the dhikr of Allah and send blessings upon the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, much. Don't run to your computer, to friends at yahoo messenger or facebook or CNN or Al-Jaziera or email before you have these worship incorporated in your daily lives. This is the way to show gratitude to your Generous Lord who give you the free time and your health. Don't get this idea that we can save the world while our relationship with Allah is still iffy. The problems in the world are not going to change if we haven't changed our attitude towards Allah. Islamic civilization was great back then because the Muslims were strong in their iman and in their worship. Allah gave them victory because of their taqwa and complete submission to Allah.
So first thing first, use our free time to take care of our own connection with Allah before anything else. In the day of judgment, the first thing Allah is going to ask you is about your prayers, not whether or not you have saved the world. So, use your free time to be close to Him.
Narrated Aisha, Allah be very pleased with her: The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to offer prayer at night (for such a long time) that his feet used to crack. I said, "O Allah's Messenger! Why do you do it since Allah has forgiven you your faults of the past and those to follow?" He said, "Shouldn't I love to be a thankful slave (of Allah)?' When he became old, he prayed while sitting, but if he wanted to perform a bowing, he wound get up, recite (some other verses) and then perform the bowing. (Bukhari)
The greatest desire of those close to Allah is Allah Himself. They desire His pleasure, His closeness and to be granted works pleasing to Him. You cannot achieve any of these without tawfiq from Him. So, ask Him. Allah says, "and towards your Lord then state your desires." Qur'an Expansion 94:8
May Allah make us among His grateful slaves. Ameen. Please don't forget me in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.
