Allah, The One and Only

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

قُلۡ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ (١) ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ (٢) لَمۡ يَلِدۡ وَلَمۡ يُولَدۡ (٣) وَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُ ۥ ڪُفُوًا أَحَدٌ (٤)

Say: He is God, the One and Only; God, the Eternal, Absolute; He begets not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him. (Qur'an 112:1-4)

This is one of the surahs of protection that most of us memorize and recite often, after each prayer and before going to sleep. What does all these mean to you?

Allah is Al-Ahad. Ahad is an emphatic word for Wahid. It means uniquely One, supremely One, in every characteristic, in Attributes, in actions, in every respect. Nothing resembles Him and He resembles nothing. He has no partner or peer.
Nothing is with Him or next to Him or beside Him. It is only the One.

Whoever knows that He is the One, he makes his heart only for Him. Everybody is scattered but this person is unified.

Just as He does not love the work that is shared, He does not love the heart that is shared. (Ibn Ata'illa)

I am praying and I kind of want to show my mom I am praying. Allah is in my heart and so is 101 things. This shared work, Allah doesn't accept. Shared heart is not ready to go forward to Him.

You make your direction only to Him, utterly devoted to Him and rely all matters only on Him. You have full reliance that Allah will take care of your needs. The manners of someone who has complete trust with Allah, he doesn't hold back in spending in charity because he knows replacement will come from Allah quickly.

He is the One who you turned to, forgetting everything besides. You don't see in the world anything except Him, realizing everything in front of you is mirroring His Names, things you like or dislike, things you love or things you fear. And you seek His protection, only His.

People who behold Allah, He strengthens their insights. Words cannot describe this matter, it is in the hearts of those people who Allah has chosen for them. We ask Allah to take us to people who this is their way and enable us to be like them. Ameen.
