In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
We sin everyday, small or big, inwardly or outwardly, whether you want to realize it or not. So ask for Allah's forgiveness repeatedly and abundantly, night and day, especially in the last hours of the night. We should fear that we should die today as bankrupts. What then will happen to us in our graves?
Whenever 'Uthman ibn Affan, Allah be pleased with him (the son-in-law of the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, the third righteous Caliph, one of the 10 being promised Paradise) came near a grave, he wept so much that his beard became wet. Someone remarked to him that when he mentioned the Garden and the Fire he never wept as much, and he said: 'I heard the Messenger of God, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "The grave is the first of the Hereafter's stages. If one is saved from it then what comes next is easier, but if one is not saved from it, then what comes next is ever harder."
So, say lots of Astaghfirullah (I seek forgiveness from Allah or I seek the covering of God’s Attributes) after each prayer.
You can also say, Rabbighfir li wa tub alayya innaka anta Tawwab Ar-Rahim (Lord forgive me and relent toward me, truly, You are the One who relents, the Merciful.)
Use the prayer of Prophet Yunus, peace be upon him,
La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu min adh-dhalimin
(There is no god but You: Glory to You: I have been a wrong-doer!)
It has been related that no one who is worried or aggrieved repeats it but that Allah grants him relief.
Allah says,
"And remember Dhu al Nun, when he departed in anger and deemed that We had no power over him! But he cried through the depths of darkness, "There is no god but You: Glory to You: I have been a wrong-doer!" "So We listened to him: and delivered him from distress: and thus do We deliver those who have faith." Qur'an Al-Anbiya' 21:87-88
May Allah forgive all our sins and admit us into Paradise with the righteous. Ameen. Please forgive me of all my shortcomings and please don't forget me in your night prayers. JazakAllahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
