Love Of The Companions

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends,

I pray that you are well.

Allah Most High praised the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace.

Allah Most Hight says,

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration...
[Quran Al-Fath 48:29]

Allah Most High says,

And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct - Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment. [Qur'an At-Tawba 9:100]

Allah Most High says,

Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest.
[Qur'an al-Fath 48:18]

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said about his Companions, may Allah be pleased with them:

The best people are those living in my generation, and then those who will follow them, and then those who will follow the latter. [Bukhari]

The Companions were honored as their lives were spent with the blessed Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace. They learnt from the words of the great teacher, Allah bless him and grant him peace, and saw the Qur'an in living form. They ate with him, drank with him, shed tears and blood by his side.

The Companions were people who had a past of mistakes and sin, yet they were able to embrace Islam and live like the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace. We often overlook the tremendous sacrifices they gave, the torture they endured and the loss of their lives, families and wealth, for the sake of Allah and His Messenger, Allah bless him and grant him peace.

The Qur'an and the blessings of Allah came to them through their love for the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the complete faith and devotion to the revelations that came through him. This is why we try to be like the Companions because they lived their lives in the image of the most perfect of creation, the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace.

The Companions' love for the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, knew no bounds. When you love someone, you talk about him to other people. This love and sense of responsibility towards the religion of Allah drove the Companions to faithfully transmit the Sunnah of the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace. None of the Companions lied about the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace. The uprightness of the Companions is universally accepted by those who followed them.

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
Convey from me, even if just a single verse.
[Bukhari]

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
"May Allah make radiant someone who hears something from us, and then conveys it as he heard it, for it might be that someone who is conveyed to understands better than the one who heard.
[Tirmidhi]

Our obligation to Allah is only discharged by learning what the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said and did. This is the purpose of our existence. We wouldn't know how to pray, how to pay zakat, how to contract the proper way, how to live our lives the successful way, except through the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace.

May Allah Most High increase our love for His beloved Messenger, Allah bless him and grant him peace, and for his Companions, may Allah be pleased with them.

Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
