Nosy People

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

When you meet people, it is good to ask them how they are doing and be cordial. But don't ask too many questions because you might harm them.

Harming another person is not allowed.

The person might answer your questions because he doesn't want to be rude but later on he might regret it because it might be something he feels uncomfortable for people to know. Your asking too many questions might cause him to lie because he does not want you to know all of his affairs. He might be harsh to you because he doesn't want to answer your question. In short, your asking him too many questions have caused him fitnah and harmed him.

When you have a conversation with people, look at the person and think twice before asking about his state and his private affairs. Everybody is different and we should expect that people have varying levels as to what they consider harmful to them, and act accordingly.

A believer is intelligent and he understands subtle things. You should stop when you feel that you would be asking too many questions.

If it is does not directly affect you, then it is probably not your business. Don't catch ourselves prying into people's business by us asking too many questions. If they want you to know, they will bring it up on their own.

Allah's Messenger, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
The believers are gentle and kindly like a tractable camel which when guided lets itself be guided and when made to sit even on stones does so.
[Tirmidhi]

May Allah grant us tawfiq. Ameen.

Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
