In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
If someone confides in you something, or tells you something and the person looks left and looks right, or the person pulls you to a corner/room, or the person speaks to you in a tone that someone inattentive would not be able to hear, or the person whispers to you, or the person talks to you about his/her personal affairs, consider this a secret (secret conversation). The person does not need to tell you explicitly that it is a secret. Take all precautions to protect that secret.
It is unlawful to divulge that secret. This is an amanah (a trust) that was given to you.
The secrets of intimate life are among the most critical trusts. It is impermissible for either spouse to divulge the secrets of their private relationship to others, including relatives and friends. Neither spouse should divulge the secrets of their home and their affairs with their spouse to others. To do so would be a deception and a betrayal. They should even keep their marital problems confined to their home as much as possible, only taking such matters to others when they truly need the help of a third party to resolve their difficulties.
The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
On the Day of Judgment, some of the worst of people in their status with Allah will be a man who has intimacy with his wife and then spreads her secrets.[Muslim]
Marriage is a partnership built upon cooperation and trust, as well as love and mercy. Each spouse is like a garment to the other.
Allah Almighty says,
Qur'an al-Baqarah 2:187]
They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them.
Children too should not be talking about the secrets and private affairs of your household to their friends. We should teach our children about how to maintain the privacy of the family.
It is s a duty to repent for every wrong action. If it is disobedience which occurs between a person and Allah and does not involve the right of another human being, repentance has three preconditions. The first is that one divest himself of disobedience. The second is that he regret doing it. The third is that he resolve not to ever return to it.
If it involves to another human being, repentance has an additional preconditions: he discharges his duty to the other person. If it is money or the like, he pays it to him. If it is a hadd-punishment because of slander and the like it, he gives him power over him or seeks his pardon. If it is slander, he undoes it.
Allah Almighty says,
Qur'an An-Nur 24:31]
...And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed. (31)
[Qur'an Hud 11:3]
And [saying], "Seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, [and] He will let you enjoy a good provision for a specified term and give every doer of favor his favor. But if you turn away, then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great Day. (3)
[Qur'an at-Tahrim 66:8]
O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance. Perhaps your Lord will remove from you your misdeeds and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow [on] the Day when Allah will not disgrace the Prophet and those who believed with him. Their light will proceed before them and on their right; they will say, "Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. Indeed, You are over all things competent." (8)
Abu Hurayra said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'By Allah, I ask Allah's forgiveness and turn towards Him in repentance more than seventy times a day."
Allah Almighty loves when His slaves turn towards Him in repentance.
Abu Hamza Anas ibn Malik al-Ansari, the servant of the Messenger of Allah reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Allah is happier about the repentance of one His slaves than one of you would be about finding your camel which had strayed away from you in the middle of the desert."[Agreed upon]
In the variant of Muslim, "Allah has greater joy at the repentance of one His slaves when he turns towards Him than one of you would have over his mount, which, having escaped from him with his food and drink in the middle of the desert so that he has despaired of finding it and gone to a tree to lie down in its shade, suddenly appears standing by him while he is in that state, so that he takes its reins and then says out of the intensity of his joy, 'O Allah, You are my slave and I am Your Lord!' getting confused because of his intense joy.'"
From Abu Musa 'Abdullah ibn Qays al-Ash'ari is that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Allah Almighty will stretch out His hand during the night, turning towards the one who did wrong during the day, and stretch out His hand during the day, turning towards the one who did wrong during the night, until the day the sun rises from the place it set." [Muslim]
Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Allah will turn towards anyone who turns in repentance before the time that the sun rises from the place it set." [Muslim]
May Allah save us from acts of disobedience and forgive all our sins. Ameen.
Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
