The Heart That Is Alive

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

Allah creates us from nothing and provide for us until He decrees us death. Then He resurrects us on the Day of Judgment and this is easy for Him. But many are heedless, while many more don't know, don't care.

Allah Almighty says,

وَمِنْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦٓ أَنَّكَ تَرَى ٱلْأَرْضَ خَـٰشِعَةً فَإِذَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهَا ٱلْمَآءَ ٱهْتَزَّتْ وَرَبَتْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَحْيَاهَا لَمُحْىِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿٣٩

And of His signs is that you see the earth stilled, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and grows. Indeed, He who has given it life is the Giver of Life to the dead. Indeed, He is over all things competent. (39)

[Qur'an Fussilat 41:39]

فَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِ رَحْمَتِ ٱللَّـهِ كَيْفَ يُحْىِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَآ ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمُحْىِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿٥٠

So observe the effects of the mercy of Allah - how He gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed, that [same one] will give life to the dead, and He is over all things competent. (50)

[Qur'an Ar-Rum 40:50]

If Allah brings a person's heart to life he then rushes to obey Allah's orders and to avoid what He has prohibited. He supports Allah and His Messenger with his words, actions and intentions. He sacrifices his life and his wealth for Allah, honoring the covenant which is between him and his Lord. May Allah make us among these people. -- Habib Omar, may Allah preserve him.

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to say in his supplication when performing the prayer over the dead, "O Allah, whomever of us you make to live, let him live in Islam, and whomever of us you make to die, let him die in Iman," because deeds are done by the limbs which one is only able to do while alive. Then, at death, nothing remains but the heart's affirmation.

Cherish your life that Allah gives you by using your time wisely, in His obedience. Respect other people’s life by benefiting them with your knowledge, skills and emotional support and never harm another life unjustly, not even the life of an animal. Constantly strive against laghw – useless activities as mentioned in the Qur'an – this includes useless conversations, watching things of no benefit etc.

We ask Allah, Al-Muhyee, to grant us a heart that is alive with faith. Ameen.
