Is there anyone calling on Me?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

Allah Almighty says,
... وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدْعُونِىٓ أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ

And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." ...
[Qur'an Al-Ghafir 40:60]

Abu Salama ibn 'Abdu'r-Rahman related from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
Every night, when a third of the night remains, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven saying, 'Is there anyone calling on Me that I may answer him? Is there anyone asking anything of Me that I may give it to him? Is there anyone asking forgiveness of Me that I may forgive him?
[Bukhari]

Allah answers the call of the caller not because of the greatness of the caller, but because of the magnanimity of the One being called.

In each of our breath and in every instance, the doors of turning to Allah are opened and that His gifts are granted to those who are sincere.

Allah created us for us to profit from Him not for Him to profit from us. So, how great is the victory for those who yearn for His presence.

But most people of our time have turned away from their Lord. They have been busied by that which does not behooved their attention and that which is profitless. They have been taken by the ornaments and adornments of this life and these things have turned them away from the realities of salvation as well as the real beauty and increase. People have accepted this loss and allowed the days and nights to pass them by in this condition without seeking the reality of nearness to Allah.

We are satisfied to let a year, 2 years, even 30 years to pass and would not stop to sincerely take ourselves into account. What have today benefited us? Yesterday was a complete day that have passed us by. How were we increased or benefited by yesterday and what provision can we take with us to our next life?

If the days and nights passed us by without us increasing in the meaning of turning to Allah, and if we do not know the reality of longing for Allah and we do not take them as a ladder by which we are elevated in the meaning of sincerely in the presence of Allah, then what is the value of this life? Is the value of life food and drink? Clothing and garments? Various kinds of wealth which is perishing? Is the value of life seeking a station among humanity that is so quickly tarnished?

In the days and nights that are passing us by, are treasures of Allah's generosity which cannot be enumerated and encompassed. No one can comprehend what Allah has placed in them. Were our comprehensive faculties to be expanded they would find the treasures of Allah cannot be enumerated and encompassed because Allah has called Himself the Bestower (Al-Wahhab), the Affectionate (Al-Wadud), the Gracious, the Merciful (Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim), the Generous (Al-Karim), the Pardoner (Al-'Afuww), the Beneficent (Ar-Rahim) and many great Names. These Names are Attributes describing the Lord and He did not established them in vain. No time that passes save the Bestower bestows gifts, the Affectionate shows affection, the Gracious dispenses grace, the Generous shows generosity, the Pardoner grants pardon, and the Merciful is being merciful.

If each of your breaths your Lord is being beneficent, gives and bestows freely, being generous and dispense bounty, what then is your portion of this? How can you be satisfied for your breaths to pass you by and you are withheld from the beneficence of the Beneficent?

We should not accept for the remaining of our life to pass us by while we are heedless of Allah.

May Allah protect us from heedlessness of Him and bring us closer to Him. Ameen.

Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
