With Your Dear Life

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

The most certain thing that will happen to us is death but many are heedless of it as if it will never happen or as if it is so far away. You see them chasing after this world to no end. You can see $ signs in their eyes and they take a lot and give a little.

In the area of religious knowledge, this can be disheartening to new seekers of knowledge. Often teachers do not teach without payment. And the more popular or knowledgeable they are, the heftier their price. It seems that only those who have money can learn from these people who are supposed to teach and be a good example. What? Do they think they can take all that money (and their knowledge for that matter) to their graves? Did they forget that only their good deeds can benefit them in the next life?

We should not want to be like them even if they have lots of wealth or lots of knowledge.

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
"Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases. (The first is) A person, whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously; (the second is) the one whom Allah has given wisdom (the Holy Qur'an) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others." (Fateh-al-Bari page 177 Vol. 1) (Bukhari)

Religious knowledge and Qur'an have become more and more of a trading commodity. This is obviously contrary to the teachings of the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said:

"Facilitate things to people (concerning religious matters), and do not make it hard for them and give them good tidings and do not make them run away (from Islam)."

Religious and Qu'ran teachers who act according to the Qur'an are very hard to come by. So when Allah shows them to you, grab on to them with your dear life, and let others know about them.

May Allah guide us to righteous scholars and preserve our teachers and guide them. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
