Why Your Children Don't Listen To You?

Why your children don't listen to you and worse, yell at you? Because they don't have respect for you as a parent. Who to blame? When you don't give them the attention growing up, they don't have much connection with you except material connection. Children need more than food, clothes and roof over their heads to become that loving, caring and compassionate children to you. They need physical and emotional attachment with you from their birth.

Before embarking into parenthood, learn parenting first. We go to school for other things but we think we can wing it on how to raise kids. Don't do this to your children.

For the first 7 years of their life, play more with them. Don't rush them to school the moment they can walk. They need your touch and presence more than friends or navigating the electronic screens or becoming a math viz at the age of 3. If you do that, by the time they reach puberty they will be tired of school and learning.

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah  (ﷺ) was the best of people in character. I had a brother who was called Abu ‘Umayr. When the Prophet would come and see him, he said, “What has the little sparrow done?” And he would play with him.

From age 7 to 14, teach them about life and their Creator, be their mentor. Learn to control your temper and show your unconditional love.

Anas ibn Malik said about the Prophet (ﷺ): I served the Prophet (ﷺ) at Medina for ten years. I was a boy. Every work that I did was not according to the desire of my master, but he never said to me: Uff (a minor harsh word denoting impatience), nor did he say to me: Why did you do this? or Why did you not do this?

Ibn 'Abbas narrated, ‘One day I was riding behind the Prophet when he said, “O lad, be mindful of Allah and He will protect you. Be mindful of Allah and you shall find Him with you. When you ask (for anything), ask it from Allah, and if you seek help, seek help from Allah.” [At-Tirmidhi]

Befriend them for the next 7 years and beyond.

Make this du'a after each prayer.

Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.

May Allah grant us righteous children who bring joy and happiness to the Prophet (ﷺ).

Aameen.

Busy Yourself Seeking Allah's Attention.

The vast majority of time has passed where you and I were completely irrelevant. ٍSo much human history has passed and no one in that history knew who we were. We were never mentioned.

Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? (1) Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. (2)  [Quran, Al Insaan 76:1-2]

This is Allah's way of reminding us that the few moments that we do exist after we came out of our mother's womb, we want attention. This desire that Allah put inside human beings that is driving the multi billion dollar social media industry. If human beings didn't want attention, you couldn't have social media. It wouldn't exist. Why do people look for acknowledgement all the time? Why do people feel something is missing if they don't get acknowledged? Allah says,

Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3)  [Quran, Al Insaan 76:3]

There is a time that's coming pretty soon where you and I are going to be in the grave and some people will remember us and they will cry over us and then time will pass, we will be forgotten. We become irrelevant again. We remember famous people like scholars in the Islamic history. They had a big family but nobody remembers them. A lot of those people are invisible to us now. We don't remember the rulers, the millionaires, the billionaires, the good looking people, the popular and famous people. They are gone and they become irrelevant again.

Allah is teaching us that you are running after this thing to be relevant, to be remembered, to be recognized, to be acknowledged, but Allah reminded us that you were created to be irrelevant and you will be going back to irrelevant again.

Life is a journey towards death. Every single day passed is one day closer to death. That journey is happening on auto pilot, that's not controlled by you. That's already been decided by Allah. There is another journey, not the journey of your lifespan, but the journey inside our hearts and our minds. Allah wants us to make a journey back towards Him in our heads and in our minds but the mind is too preoccupied wanting to be acknowledged by someone else. Allah wants that heart and that mind to first be busy looking for the acknowledgement of Allah -- Is my Rabb pleased with me? Is my Rabb looking at this good deed and is He happy with this deed? Is my Rabb happy with this service? Am I living my life in a way that eventually when this life journey ends I am going to get to meet Him?

Allah gives the ability for everyone to go on this journey with two choices, either we are grateful or we are ungrateful.

Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3)  [Quran, Al Insaan 76:3]

When Allah gave you guidance and if you are not using the guidance, you can say alhamdulillah all you want, but it is meaningless because you are not using His gift to you. Living a life of gratitude to Allah, Allah will acknowledge you one day. Allah says,

[And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for yoR u a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." (22) [Quran, Al Insaan 76:22]

May Allah make us of those who are grateful and follow His guidance. Aameen.

Becoming A Better Person

Becoming A Better Person...means you try to stay away from things that are filthy. As you do that, it enhances you and  as it enhances a lot, it adds barakah and more goodness in your life  --  which means Allah opens more doors for you to do more good and give you more strength to get away from bad stuff in your life. This cycle keeps on strengthening you to get further and further away from the bad stuff.

Nobody turns into an angel overnight. Nobody becomes perfect overnight. Nobody starts praying 5 times daily at the masjid, etc, but you take steps. You are not going to be perfect tomorrow, but you are at least on the way, go one step after another, one stage after another.  This is at least what is expected of you.

May Allah give barakah to our lives. Aameen.

Good Character In Enjoining Good and Forbid Evil

Bismillah

Good Character In Enjoining Good and Forbid Evil

People who get to represent Islam need to know how to present themselves, display good manners,  remain calm and  be on point. They can't be people who readily act on their emotions. When you teach people or calling them to religion, make things easy and simple for them. Don't make things difficult for people.  The Prophet sallallahu  alayhi wasallam said the religion is ease. Allah taught us these manners when He asked Prophet Musa alayhissalaam to go to Fir'aun and to speak to him softly. What more if the person you are talking to is your parents, children or your spouse. Aren't they more worthy of your kindness and tenderness?

May Allah grant us ease and noble character. Aameen.

Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday)...The Great Losers

The adornments on this earth is a test for us as who among us is best in deeds. Allah says,

Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed. (7)
[Quran, Al-Kahf 18:7]

Materialism or the love of 'adornments on the earth' can make even acts of worship are done for worldly gains, recognition, respect, power and money. And those are the great losers. So, Allah reminds us in Surah al Kahf,

Say, [O Muhammad], "Shall We inform you of the greatest losers as to [their] deeds? (103) [They are] those whose effort is lost in worldly life, while they think that they are doing well in work." (104)
[Quran, Al-Kahf 18:103-104]

Sincere intention is indispensable prerequisite for the acceptance of a good deed. Renew your intentions often as intention that once good and sincere may become rusty.

May Allah make us of those who are sincere. Aameen.

Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday) -- Great Things Begin With Du'a

Bismillah

The beginning of great things begins with a du'a. The power of du'a is captured inside Surah Kahf. It is the major turning point for a few young men who flee to the cave from the people of their city who were forcing them to worship other than Allah. As these young men flee towards the cave, they turned to Allah and made this du'a,

Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance. [Qur'an, Al-Kahf 18:10]

Allah granted them their du'a and protected them for more than three centuries. Generations after generations of people derived lessons and benefited from their story, recite the Surah which is named after them every Friday, and made their du'a everyday in various settings -- imagine all the reward they are getting until the end of time.

If you are concerned about your future, increase your du'a. Learn this du'a and make it your daily supplication.

May Allah grant us mercy from Himself and prepare for us right guidance in all our affairs. Aameen.

Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday) -- Enjoying Tranquility and Happiness with Quran

Bismillah

Friday is Eid for the Muslims and we celebrate it by performing various actions that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam has taught us. One of the highlights of Friday for Muslims is to read Surah Kahf, the 18th chapter of the Quran.

Perhaps many of us read Surah Kahf on Friday because we want the protection that some hadiths mention:

"One who recites Surah al-Kahf on the day of Jumu'ah will remain protected from every fitnah. And if Dajjal appears, he will stay safe against the trying challenges released by him as well."

And it appears in some narratives that a person who recites Surah al-Kahf on the day of Jumu'ah will have light from his feet up to the sky. This light will serve him well on the day of Qiyaamah, and every sin committed by him between the past and the present Jumu'ah will be forgiven.

So perhaps we are motivated to read Surah Kahf on Friday because we want our sins forgiven and want that light on that difficult Day.

Whatever the thing that brought you to read Surah Kahf, you are moving in the path towards the Divine.

Whether we act upon the Sunnah knowing the benefit or not, we should strive to do what we know. This religion is all about obedience to the Almighty. And through obedience to Him, we enjoy the closeness to our Lord.

It maybe difficult to read more than a few pages at first, or to keep it up every Friday, but you must force yourself to do it. The first stage in the path towards Allah is to force yourself and bring yourself to do those actions which you know that Allah wants you to do.

The practical injunctions is a large part of this religion. Religion is meant to lead to a transformation in a human being whereby he is no longer chained to what other people are chained to of lusts, desires, laziness, or what people think. He has a much higher purpose and reflected in this person. He become a person of God.

Islam is a great blessing for those who understand it. Islam is not here to burden you but to provide you a wholesome and happy life. But it takes knowledge for a person to realize this. Surah Kahf reminds you to seek knowledge even if it means you have to travel to an unknown place in a far away land (from the story of Musa and Khidr, peace be upon them).

Once you get your two feet standing in the middle of the religion, you will find that this religion is easy and each routine becomes easier and easier and you will do more and more. Reading Qur'an becomes enjoyable and a thing you look forward to everyday. But you cannot be lazy.

In a hadith Qudsi, Allah Almighty said,

I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshiper of mine. and the most beloved things with which my slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him;

And my slave keeps on coming closer to me through performing Nawafil (Prayer or Doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) until I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks;

And if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks my protection, I will protect him; and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him.
[Bukhari]

Umar ibn al-Khattab (radhiaAllahu 'anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam, said:

There are people from the servants of Allah who are neither Prophets nor martyrs; the Prophets and martyrs will envy them on the Day of Resurrection, for their rank from Allah, the Most High.” They (the people) asked: “Tell us, Messenger of Allah, who are they?” He replied: “They are people who love one another for the spirit of Allah (i.e. the Qur'an), without having any mutual kinship and giving property to one. I swear by Allah, their faces will glow and they will be (sitting) in (pulpits of) light. They will have no fear (on the Day) when the people will have fear, and they will not grieve when the people will grieve.” He then recited the following Qur'anic verse [10:62]: “Behold! Verily for the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve.
[Abu Dawud]

The friend of Allah does not only enjoy the benefit after he dies. Rather he enjoys tranquility and happiness that everybody all over the world is looking for, but no one finds it except the true slave of Allah.

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, gives us things to do. Through these actions, among them reading Surah Kahf every Friday, transformation takes place. Such a person if he asks Allah for something, Allah will give it to him. Why? Because Allah loves him.

So strive to continue this Friday tradition from the Sunnah of His beloved Messenger sallallahu alayhi wasallam, until you die. Don't let shaytan whisper to you otherwise. Don't let Shaytan take you away from your opportunity to be loved by Allah.

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of any who did well in deeds. (30) Those will have gardens of perpetual residence; beneath them rivers will flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and brocade, reclining therein on adorned couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place. (31)
[Qur'an, Al-Kahf 18:30-31]

May Allah enable us to follow in the footsteps of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and grant us tranquility and happiness in this life and the next. Ameen.

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wasallam.

And Allah knows best and is Most Wise, and He alone grants success, and to Him is the final return of all.

Wassalaam

Adab Of Entering Someone's Home

When you go to someone's home, give greetings of peace to the family, which means you are not going to probe into their lives and be a source of harm and grief to them.

O you who have believed, do not enter houses other than your own houses until you ascertain welcome and greet their inhabitants. That is best for you; perhaps you will be reminded. (27) [Quran, An-Noor 24:27]

Let's Read Surah Kahf today (Friday) -- Reflect and Take Lessons

Surah Kahf is named such because of the miraculous Divine story in it, the wondrous, strange story of the Companions of the Cave.

This surah brings us 4 inspiring and impressive Quranic stories to confirm its basic purpose to establish correct belief and faith in the greatness of our Creator, Full of Majesty and Honor. The stories are meant to be taken as lessons and points for reflection.

Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.

Passing The Life Tests

Allah says in Surah Al Balad,

We have certainly created man into hardship. (4) [Quran, Al Balad 90:4]

The first requirement to pass the difficult test is generosity. But this is not enough, the person must also have iman (Faith in Allah).

How have we perceived the religion to be? Our understanding of religiosity is primarily rituals. We forget the early Makkan surahs emphasized charity more than rituals. They emphasize kindness, giving to others and feeding others. Along with iman, they are helping others in patience and compassion, even while they themselves are in hardship and struggling. They are not selfish and only caring about themselves. Rather they are a source of good for others, giving people hope, advising them to be patient, giving them the patience they need, a kind word, maybe a generosity or just a shoulder to cry on, and showing compassion. These are the fortunate and blessed people. These are the ones who have passed the tests and saved themselves.

The opposite are those who have rejected Allah. They are the unfortunates. They are the ones who are going to be saddened, lacking any blessing. They will be punished in the fire that is surrounding them.

And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? (12) It is the freeing of a slave (13) Or feeding on a day of severe hunger (14) An orphan of near relationship (15) Or a needy person in misery (16) And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. (17) Those are the companions of the right (18) But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. (19) Over them will be fire closed in. (20) [Quran, Al Balad 90:19-20]

Surah al Balad tells about the reality of why Allah created us and the arrogance of mankind, that no one should feel that they are doing something amazing if they are simply spending money. What you have of your blessings (your eyes, your tongue, your lips, etc) are more precious than all the money you have and you have them for free. All of these blessings we have Allah gave them. The response to these blessings should be that we are overcoming the struggles. And those struggles are what Allah tells us in the Quran -- being generous to others, helping people out, advising people and have iman in Allah.

May Allah increase us in iman and make us of the companions of the right. Aameen.

Run Towards Knowledge

In this world, run towards knowledge of Islam. Without this knowledge you will be running away from your loved ones in the next world.

On the Day a man will flee from his brother (34) And his mother and his father (35) And his wife and his children, (36) For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. (37)
[Quran, Al Abasa 80:34-37]

May Allah save us from ignorance and arrogance.

My Lord, increase me in knowledge. [Quran, TaHa 20:114]

Best Title -- Servant of Allah

Allah used to speak to Musa (peace be upon him) directly and Musa was the most knowledgeable during his time, and yet Allah told him to learn from somebody, with no mention of his name, who is more knowledgeable than him (Musa).

Allah says,

And they found a servant from among Our servants to whom we had given mercy from Us and had taught him from Us a [certain] knowledge. [Quran, Al Kahf 18:65]

Here, Allah only mentioned that this person is among His servants whom He had taught. No name was given. One of the lessons here is that people who have reached the heights of knowledge are nothing more than servants of Allah. Allah refers to His beloved Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as His servant.

[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. [Quran, Al Kahf 18:1]

So, we should not feel a sense of arrogance or entitlement to be called Professor, Dr, Ustaz or Ustazah, Shaykh or Shaykhah or all those titles that this world has honored us with. Be humble. Indeed, the best title is servant of Allah.

May Allah make us of His humble servants. Aameen.

Finding Happiness In The Midst Of Trial

You can find the sweetest happiness in the midst of trial.

"Don't think that worry and sorrow are out of place as long as you are in this world. It only brings forth what its attribute and quality demand." [Hikam of Ibn Ata'illah)

"Strange are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his and this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer for if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (Allah), thus there is a good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (and endures it patiently), there is a good for him in it."

[Narrated by Muslim]

"The example of a believer is that of a fresh tender plant; from whatever direction the wind comes, it bends it, but when the wind becomes quiet, it becomes straight again. Similarly, a believer is afflicted with calamities (but he remains patient till Allah removes his difficulties). And an impious wicked person is like a pine tree which keeps hard and straight till Allah cuts (breaks) it down when He wishes."

[Narrated by Bukhari]

Indeed the only thing that would save one from trials and tribulations with Allah’s permission is correct knowledge. If you don’t gain correct knowledge, it is possible that you will fall into the trials and you won’t know that it’s a calamity. We seek knowledge from the people of knowledge, and we should not become lazy. When trials come, know it is a trial, so deal with it in an appropriate manner to the best of your ability.

"And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out [Qur'an, At-Talaq 65:2]... And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease." [Quran, At-Talaq 65:4]

Alif, Lam, Meem (1) Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried? (2) But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars. (3)
[Quran, Al-Ankabut 29:1-3]

May Allah make us of those who are truthful and patient. May Allah save us from the trials and tribulations of this life and the next and grant us peace and tranquility. Ameen.

Sign Of Iman

When everything is fine, it is very easy to feel that your iman is strong. What will happen at the stroke of a calamity, how do you react? How much patience (sabr), acceptance and contentment (ridha), and tawakkal (reliance on Allah) will be manifested? Does your heart turn to Allah and take comfort in it or or is there a feeling of emptiness and a sense of rejection?  It is a sign of iman when a tragedy happens, it links you to Allah immediately.

Love The Righteous

 Love The Righteous

Imam Shafi'i said:
I love the righteous, although I'm not of them
Perhaps I shall receive intercession through them
And I hate he who trades in sins (deals in acts of disobedience)
Although we are both dealing in the same trade.

So Imam Ahmad responded:
You love the righteous and you are of them
And from you shall they receive intercession
And you hate he who trades in sins
May Allah protect us from the evil of such trade

May Allah make us of the righteous and grant us righteous spouses, offsprings, teachers, companions, neighbors, friends and leaders. Aameen.

Test Your Iman (Faith in Allah)

The Iman and the strength of our Iman changes from time to place. Just like the high blood pressure patients who must monitor their blood pressure level, it is imperative on every single one of us to monitor our Iman so it stays strong and not weakened until you lose it. Three things we have to be cognizant about:

1) Just because we tasted piety at one point, it does not mean that we shall remain pious throughout our lives. Allah says that don't be like those who were given the Book before you and as time went on their hearts became hard.

2) Iman is an active verb and so we must always nourish our iman and be vigilant that our iman does not go down.

3) Even if we have the blessing of piety, whether it was memorizing the Quran, gaining knowledge, or even a blessing that Allah has given you, it is possible that the blessing which at one point in time caused your Iman boost or take you to Allah, at another point in time it might actually become an impediment against strong Iman or take you away from Allah because you didn't have the right intentions or the right attitude, you misuse it, you become arrogant and jealous.

Check your piety:

1) Look at the quality of your worship when you are alone. The highest level of Iman is that you worship Allah in secret as you worship Allah in public.

2) How do you react in the face of calamity and tragedy.  It is easy to fool yourself into a false sense of confidence. Iman is strong when things are good, when life is good, when everything is fine. What will happen at the first stroke of calamity? How much patience is manifested within the few minutes of hearing about the tragedy is the litmus test of Iman. Does your heart turn to Allah, do you take comfort in turning to Allah, making du'a, or is there an emptiness or a sense of complete rejection? Yes, it is painful but having Iman when tragedy happens, it links you to Allah immediately.

3) How do you treat other people, not so much about the people in the masjid, your acquaintances or colleagues, but how you treat the closest people in your lives -- your parents, spouse, children. What is your compassion and kindness when you are in the privacy of your household with your lifelong partners and family and what is your reaction when you have been provoked. How you treat them when your anger is boiling inside of you. This will truly show the level of your iman.

Protect our Iman by making an extra effort to be around people of Iman and befriend them. It's not good just to have taqwa if you have taqwa alone by yourself. That taqwa will whittle away and it is going to be constantly attacked. To fortify taqwa, be with the people of taqwa, go to the masjid, seek people in your neighborhood or locality that can become family friends for you and your children that are people of Iman and taqwa. Make sure that you associate with people who will make you better Muslims. The Prophet said that a person follows the religion od his friends so be careful who your friends are.

May Allah protect our Iman and increase us in Iman and grant us righteous friends and companions. Aameen.

Make 70 Excuses For Others In Islam

Hamdun al-Qassar, one of the great early Muslims, said, “If a friend among your friends errs, make seventy excuses for them. If your hearts are unable to do this, then know that the shortcoming is in your own selves.” [Imam Bayhaqi, Shu`ab al-Iman, 7.522]

The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
"A believer is a mirror of the believer.” [Abu Dawood] So what you see in your brethren is a reflection of what is within you – so beware.

“Overlook the slips of respected people.” [Bukhari in al-Adab al-Mufrad]

Allah says in the Quran,

O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful. [Quran al Hujurat 49:12]

May Allah unite the Ummah, bring peace to the world and protect us from calamaties. Aameen.

Why Are You Here?

Why are you here? Is it to sip coffee/tea and be merry? Is it to get married and have kids? Is it to live like a king? ...

The ultimate goal of this life is to know Allah and worship Him, abiding by the Divine guidelines revealed in the Quran and the Tradition of the Prophet.

Allah says in a hadith Qudsi: "I (God) was a Hidden Treasure and loved to be known. Therefore I created the Creation that I might be known."

"And I (Allah) created not the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." [Quran 51:56]

Our life is merely a test, determining our afterlife, either in Jannah (Paradise) or in Jahannam (Hell).

The meaning of life for us  as an individual, is to know the nature of God, and the purpose of all of creation is to reveal that nature, and to prove its value as the ultimate treasure, that is Allah ....

May Allah enable us to know Him and make us His of best obedient slaves. Aameen

Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday) -- Showing Your Commitment To The Religion Of Allah

Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday).

Don't put this off because procrastination is one of the potent tricks of Shaytan to prevent us from achieving success. There are valuable lessons from the stories which serve as a guide to success.

The youth of the cave were committed to Allah's religion that they were willing to leave the comfort of their homes and retreated to a cave. Allah was pleased with them, complimented them in the Quran, and increased them in guidance.

The neighbor of the man with two luscious gardens was committed to the religion of Allah that he, despite the man's arrogance and his put downs, he patiently remained with the man to help him repent to Allah. He was successful, by the help of Allah.

Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) was committed to seeking knowledge that he was willing to travel a long and difficult journey to find the teacher who Allah says is more knowledgeable than him. He was successful in finding him and learned valuable lessons.

Zulkarnain, a powerful King, was committed to a mission and so he traveled east and west and established good and justice.

The question you need to ask yourself is where do you stand in your commitment towards the religion of Allah and what are you doing to achieve it?

May Allah guide us and help us remain steadfast. Aameen.

Love❤️Love❤️Love❤️

Love❤️Love❤️Love❤️

There is never too much love ❤️

Abu Hurayra r.a. reported that the Prophe ﷺ said, "By the One in Whose Hand my soul is, you will not enter Paradise until you submit to Islam. And, you will not submit to Islam until you love one another. Extend the greeting to one another and you will love one another. Beware of hatred, for it is the razor. I do not tell you that it shaves the hair, but it shaves away the deen."

Mu'adh ibin Jabal r.a. reported: Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah, the Exalted, has said: 'For those who love one another for the sake of My Glory, there will be seats of light (on the Day of Resurrection), and they will be envied by the Prophets and martyrs". [Tirmidhi]

Don't Be Deceived

Don't be decieved...

Human beings are being deceived.  They think they are running after something that will give them success or they think they are running away from some type of loss but actually they are running right towards it. They have been cheated all along. They haven't seen the truth for what it is. Allah  reminds us in the Quran

Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion. [Quran, AleImran 3:285]

O Allah! show us the truth as true, and inspire us to follow it. Show us falsehood as falsehood, and inspire us to abstain from it.
Aameen.

Excellence In Everything

The sunnah is not to just do good deeds but to excel in them.

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, “Verily, Allah has prescribed excellence in everything. If you have to kill, kill in the best manner. If you have to slaughter, slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife, so his animal is spared of suffering.” [Muslim]

Our Reality

We find ourselves in a variety of circumstances. Regardless, the common denominator between all of us is what Allah says in the Quran that mankind is in loss. Whether someone looks apparently happy, healthy, wealthy, sad, sick, miserable, poor...all that don't matter. Allah has made a declaration that mankind is in loss. We have to appreciate time. Time is a precious commodity, the one thing we cannot gain more of and we cannot bring it back once  it is gone. Yesterday will never come back.

By time, (1) Indeed, mankind is in loss, (2) Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. (3) [Quran, Al Asr 103]

May Allah bless our time. Aameen.

Death Is A Reminder

Death reminds us to start preparing for our own ending.

[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving - (2) [al Mulk]

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said
Remember more often the terminator of pleasures -- death

Read Surah Al Mulk before you go to bed every night.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'It is the defender, it is the deliverer - it delivers from the punishment of the grave.'" [Tirmidhi]

May Allah grant us an excellent ending and make our graves one of the gardens of Paradise. Aameen.

Quran, Your Companion Forever

Have you read the Quran lately?

Free your time to read and learn the Quran daily, not when you have free time only.  The basket is always full and you will never find time unless you make the time.

Quran is your only companion that will follow you into your graves. Make Quran your companion and give it your utmost attention and devotion.

Get Married For The Better

When you get married, you can't stay up all night and pray and read Quran because you have to take care of your spouse/children. When you get married you might have to quit school because you have to take care of your spouse/children.

People want to avoid fitnah but marriage is one of the biggest trials in this life and big trials come with big rewards. Scholars who see marriage as better than not get married, will recommend marriage, and scholars who see marriage as not good for him will not recommend marriage. If marriage is better for you, then go get married. If not, don't get married.  Definitely don't get married because the culture expects you to get married.

Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance. [Quran, al Kahf 18:10]

Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday) -- When Allah Loves You

Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday)....

You are powerful when Allah loves you. How do you attain Allah's love? There is no shortcuts. We have to take steps to Allah, we have to struggle, we have to make sacrifices. In the story of the companions of the Kahf, we find great sacrifices. Going against the grain, going against the tide, being strong and clinging to Allah and trusting Allah is a very important message to take from the story.

May Allah keep us steadfast in the religion. Aameen.

Becoming Better People In Marriage

Marriage is half of the religion. Religion is good character. Man and woman get married because it brings people together. People who prioritize the marriage will become better people and all marriages are capable of succeeding but it needs a prophetic character. People who want to be better will grow as people through marriage. Such marriage completes his/her religion.

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted. [Quran, Al Hujurat 49:13]

Marriage is NOT supposed to be easy. It causes you to step out of your comfort zone. Sayyidina Omar radhiyallahu anhu said marry strangers. From that we understand that there is not much benefit in marrying into life you already know because you are not doing anything.

Islam is about dealing with people, not staying home idling, just letting the days pass without changing. Allah created us as a creation that changes (to the better of course).

Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous. [Quran, Al Furqan 26:74]

The Crime Of Arrogance

Bismillah

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said that anybody who has even an ounce of arrogance in his heart shall not enter Paradise.

Arrogance is a state of feeling important, feeling that one has a special place. Arrogance is the reason behind many of the sins that a person commits. It is the worst crime you can commit because it causes you to commit every other crimes. If you think you are better than other people, or the religion, or if you think you don't need God, then what greater arrogance is that!

Everyone, in reality, is nothing. Every body is from dirt and will return to dirt. One's self is also in real need, and his life, health and property are not in his hands.

The cure of arrogance is being humble. If you have a little arrogance, don't leave it to grow. Be humble,

May Allah remove us from any arrogance. Aameen.

Knowledge That Benefits

When we listen to the Quran or attend Islamic gatherings or circle of knowledge, sometimes it's just emotion of listening to the Quran or being in the gathering. It is only beneficial if it causes you to become better.

May Allah increase us in beneficial knowledge and make us a better person each day. Aameen.

Priority, Gentleness and Wisdom In Delivering Islam

An outward defect means nothing if the soul wants to be purified. These are the people we should give priority in delivering the Message. Allah does not look at your outer forms nor your bodies but Allah looks at your hearts and your deeds. When you are correcting or advising somebody, the default is you use soft language, gentleness and wisdom.  In Surah Abasa, Allah taught us this. Read and understand this Surah.

May Allah grant us sound understanding of the Quran. Aameen.

Seeing The World Through The Quran Lens

Bismillah

We think if we have more of something, better quality of life, better quality of materials around us, better social circles, that is considered more successful than the ones who don't.

Your time is running out but you are running after things that are nothing but loss. We are so obsessed with more and better but that has nothing to do with success and failure.

The Quran takes something so basic as success and failure and puts a new Quran lens on it and after we put this lens, our definition of success and failure would be different. The fellow Muslim who sees the world through Surah Al Asr and the fellow Muslim who does not will see two different things.

When you think of someone who is homeless or deported or in poverty, the picture in your mind is not success but a huge failure. When Islam became a global power, it was a popular thing to be a Muslim, but now we find ourselves at a time even in a Muslim family, if somebody comes towards Islam, he is a weird crazy one. Becoming religious is associated with some kind of loss. Many countries in the Muslim world, people are afraid that their young sons and daughters might become religious because if they do become religious, that means they don't get a good job or career, won't get a good education, or they become a fanatic. They have all these fears that they will lose out in this life. This is not based on Surah Al Asr at all.

Islam today has become a label. Basically Islam becomes just a few things that we do but practically the way we see life and view the world have not changed at all, and not much different than everybody else. We consider the same things as success and failures as our non Muslim colleaques considered success and failures. Islam has been reduced to a certain rituals but not the way of seeing the world.

The Quran first came to change the way we see the world, everything else is secondary. Its function is to make you see the world from the lens of the Quran.

By time, (1) Indeed, mankind is in loss, (2) Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. (3) [Quran, Al Asr 103]

May Allah grant us a sound understanding of the Quran and our religion, and make us steadfast. Aameen.

Enjoin Good and Forbid Evil

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said that a believer is a mirror to one another. A mirror shows you things that you otherwise cannot see. It shows your flaws that you otherwise cannot see. For a believer to a believer, you are a spiritual mirror for the other believer. That means there is a necessary cleansing that you have to do to yourself and there is a function you have to the believers. If you don't cleanse yourself and serve that function, then you are a defective mirror. The collective decay of mankind is tied to people unwillingness to advise one another anymore. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam mentioned that people will remain in good so long as they enjoin good and forbid evil.

By time, (1) Indeed, mankind is in loss, (2) Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. (3) [Quran, Al Asr]

May Allah grant us noble character. Aameen

Allah Has Not Abandoned You

Allah has not abandoned you....

Our life is so fraught with trials and tribulations that when things are bad I just think of these powerful words.

"Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity."
[Quran, Al baqarah 2:286]

I am grateful because, yes, I have suffered and suffer pain, loss and hardship than you could possibly imagine, but my life is also filled with miraculous stories of Allah saving me. That is because Allah says in His majestic Book, the Quran,

“So for every hardship, there is ease. For every hardship, there is ease”
[Quran, al-Inshirah 94:5-6]

It is one of the only sentences in the entire Quran repeated twice in a row. Because Allah wants that point to really hit home for you. When this verse was revealed, the Prophet Muhammad ‎ﷺ came out literally laughing out loud in glee proclaiming glad tidings to his Companions saying,

“A hardship can never overshadow its relief which is twice as great! A hardship can never overshadow its relief which is twice as great.”

Be strong, have faith, be true.

Hearts for Guidance and Knowledge

There is no word that is greater than the Quran. There is no advice like the Quran. There is no guidance like the guidance of the Quran. The Quran is perfect in every sense spoken by Allah and is meant for your heart to receive it. Even then there are hearts that are described as being hard as stones that they cannot receive it.

Then your hearts became hardened after that, being like stones or even harder.  [Al Baqarah 2:74]

May Allah make our hearts the opposite of that.

There are hearts that are like fertile soil, they receive the revelation and they continue to grow these beautiful crops, beautiful plants. May Allah make our hearts such fertile soil. Aameen

Abu Musa reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying:

The similitude of that guidance and knowledge with which Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has sent me is that of rain falling upon the earth. There is a good piece of land which receives the rainfall (eagerly) and as a result of it there is grown in it herbage and grass abundantly. Then there is a land hard and barren which retains water and the people derive benefit from it and they drink it and make the animals drink. Then there is another land which is barren. Neither water is retained in it, nor is the grass grown in it. And that is the similitude of the first one who develops the understanding of the religion of Allah and it becomes a source of benefit to him with which Allah sent me. (The second one is that) who acquires the knowledge of religion and imparts it to others. (Then the other type is) one who does not pay attention to (the revealed knowledge) and thus does not accept guidance of Allah with which I have been sent.

Better Yourself

Bismillah

All too often we busy ourselves on things and situations that don't concern us and we overemphasized discussions that are of no benefit to us.

Allah reminds in the Quran that you are responsible for you own self. If people have gone astray, that will not harm you as long you remain consistent and rightly guided in your own life.

So let's take care of our own selves and prioritize our own lives, and let's better ourselves.

O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. To Allah is you return all together; then He will inform you of what you used to do.
[Quran, Al Maida 5:105]

May Allah grant us consistency in our worship and guide us on the straight path. Aameen

Choose Your Spouse Wisely

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam has told us, our experience has taught us and basic psychology teaches us that your friends influence you. If a friend can influence you, what impact do you think your spouse will have on you? If a mere friendship might positively or negatively influence you, then what do you think the lifelong partnership and the companionship of a spouse will have on your entire life and perhaps even on the eternal life of the next life? It is because of this that the importance of a righteous spouse to be your life partner is something that the Quran and the Sunnah stressed.

In fact, Allah reminded us in Surah An-Noor,

Corrupt women for corrupt men, and corrupt men for corrupt women; pure and righteous women for pure and righteous men, and pure and righteous men for pure and righteous women ...
[Quran, An-Noor 24:26]

This is the general rule. Birds of feather flock together. So your life partner, the one you choose to live with, is an extension of you are. The one who you choose to live with should be representative of who you are. And that is why Allah has forbidden for Muslim men and women to marry polytheist.

And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe. And a believing slave woman is better than a polytheist, even though she might please you. And do not marry polytheistic men [to your women] until they believe. And a believing slave is better than a polytheist, even though he might please you. Those invite [you] to the Fire, but Allah invites to Paradise and to forgiveness, by His permission. And He makes clear His verses to the people that perhaps they may remember. [Quran, Al Baqarah 2:221]

Allah says a slave who is a believer is better and pure for you than a non believing woman even if her beauty bedazzles you, and even if you think she is very good for you. Even a man who is a slave but a believer in Allah is better for you than a non believing man even if he bedazzles you, and even if you think he has wealth, power, status but since he doesn't have faith in Allah, he is not worthy for you, and do not marry your women to such a person.

Simply by marrying a non believing partner, the potential to influence you is so great that you might end up on the path towards Hellfire. This is why Allah has forbidden marrying to a polytheist.

The Quran, the Sunnah and the life of the companions and human history is full of examples of righteous couples and examples of the opposite.

For example, Allah praises Prophet Zakariyya a.s. and his wife in the Quran. Allah says about both of them,

So We responded to him, and We gave to him Yahya, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive. [Quran, Al Anbiya' 21:90]

Allah tells us that the two of them are team partners. They are in healthy competition and helping each other in good deeds, pray together, worship together and make du'a together, helping one another and gently pushing one another on the race towards Jannah, humbling themselves to Allah. This shows us the ideal couple.

This is how the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam described,

'May Allah (SWT) have mercy on a man who gets up at night and prays, then he wakes his wife and she prays, and if she refuses he sprinkles water in her face. And may Allah (SWT) have mercy on a woman who gets up at night and prays, then she wakes her husband and prays, and if he refuses she sprinkles water in his face.' [Sunan An-Nisa'i]

There is this notion of husband and wife helping one another for righteousness, pushing one another to piety. How many among us that we might not be as pious and as righteous as we are had it not been that Allah blessed us with a spouse who is better than us, with a spouse who reminded us to not do evil deed and to strive for a better deed. Such a spouse should thank Allah and be appreciative of one's spouse. Simply having a righteous spouse your status changes. How many times we see the success of a husband, the wife rises up as a result of that success, and vice versa, the success of a wife, the husband rises up as a result of that success. Of course, along with that, the responsibilities come.

So be careful before you get married -- who you are going to marry. After you get married, examine your spouse for their religiosity because usually speaking, not always, the spouse's religiosity is a reflection of your religiosity.

So like the righteous spouse helps the righteous spouse to Jannah, so too the wicked spouse can be a mechanism of leading to Jahannam.

One of the first revelations was about a couple who helped each other in evil,

May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he. (1) His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained. (2) He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame (3) And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood. (4) Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber. (5)
[Quran, Al Masad 111]

Abu Lahab, the uncle of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, Allah curses him, and in the fire of Jahannam, his wife will be carrying will be carrying fuel to her husband that is going to make jahannam for them.

So we see this reality, filthy are for filthy and pure are for pure.

This is the general rule but it is not always the cae, There are exceptions that are worthy for our reflection. Allah mentions this is the Quran.

Allah presents an example of those who disbelieved: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous servants but betrayed them, so those prophets did not avail them from Allah at all, and it was said, "Enter the Fire with those who enter." (10) [Quran At-Tahrim 66:8]

The wife of Nuh and the wife of Lut did not benefit from the piety of their husbands who are Prophets.

Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.
Aameen.

How To Live On The Earth?

Allah tells us He created everything on  the earth for us altogether. There is not a thing on the earth that Allah did not put in service for human beings. All the resources of the earth were made for human beings altogether, i.e we have to share all the resources of the earth.

It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth. Then He directed Himself to the heaven, [His being above all creation], and made them seven heavens, and He is Knowing of all things.

[Quran, Al Baqarah 2:29]

But human beings become greedy and don't want to share. This ayah is letting us know how to live on this earth. Allah is letting all humankind, not just Muslims, to know that they need to share all the resources that He put on the earth. We have to co-exist. We have to share this earth peacefully.

May Allah enable us to live according to His guidance. Aameen.

Wind -- A Sign Of Allah

The wind is one of Allah's Creation and  which no human can see but they can feel it and see its effect. The wind may become a mercy and may become a torment by the command of its Creator and manager [Glory be to Him]. It is one of the greatest signs indicating the greatness and the power of Allah and the necessity of directing the worship solely for Him alone without associating any partner with Him.

And [in] the alternation of night and day and [in] what Allah sends down from the sky of provision and gives life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and [in His] directing of the winds are signs for a people who reason. [Quran, Al Jathiyah 45:5]

The wind is one of the wonders which people need but they fear it, and if they had done whatever they can to move it, they would have not moved it while it is still, and if it moves, they shall not be able to stop it or at least lessen its effect or change its course.

The only thing they can do is to escape from or take shelter to the extent that villages and cities are abandoned for fear of its effect then they wait helplessly for its coming and leaving. When the storm becomes still, they bury their dead, cure their wounds, shelter their displaced, count their losses, fix whatever it destroyed, and cry for their disaster.

May Allah make the wind a source of mercy for us. Aameen.

Flee to Allah

The speed you do things on this earth is determined by your goals. If the goal is casual, then the stroll is casual. When you have an ultimate goal, you run towards it like nobody's business.

When it comes to enjoying the earth, you stroll.  When it comes to a more purposeful goal, the pursuit of rizq and explore work opportunities, you walk.

It is He who made the earth tame for you - so walk among its slopes and eat of His provision - and to Him is the resurrection. [Quran, Al Mulk 67:15]

When it comes to remembering Allah, going to Jumu'ah, which is good for your Deen and your dunya, then rush. Don't just stroll or walk, but make some effort to do it.

O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew. [Quran, Al Jumu'a 62:9]

When it comes to forgiveness of Allah, race to it. Race against each other to get forgiveness from Allah.

And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord .. [Quran, AleImran 3:133]

Race toward forgiveness from your Lord ... [Quran, Al Hadid 57:21]

When you are faced with difficulties, run to Allah for help. Run desperately like nobody's business to Allah. Run to Allah to find solace. Run to Him for indeed all things come from and return to Him in His sublime perfection.

So flee to Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner. [Quran, Adh-Dhariyat 51:50]

May Allah forgive all our sins and grant us an excellent ending. Aameen.

Allah Is Greater

Allah is greater ...

The larger the obstacles in front of you, the harder it is to remember Allah is greater than the obstacles. Remember this in moments of desperation, when no one around to help you.

When the slander of Aisha r.a happened, she leaned on two statements,

"I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know. [Quran, Yusuf 12:86]

Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal Wakeel

"Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs."
[Quran, AleImran 4:183]

Knowledge That Does Not Benefit

The knowledge of our religion, this way of life, that was passed down from our Prophet , comes with the ability to uphold our deen – that is how a nation of Bedouins in the Arabian desert of little importance at the time became one of the greatest forces on the earth.

Prophet Muhammad planted the knowledge he received into the hearts of the sahabah such that it became a guidance that they acted upon – a total way of life. That was success.

In this information age everything is really at our fingertips, but the overwhelming amount of what we take in means that we find it hard to actually bring it out in actions. As one scholar said, "Talk is plenty, knowledge is abundant, but application is scarce."

A common enough du’a we make is “O Allah, increase me in knowledge” [Quran, Ta-Ha 20:114] because we want to learn, but we need to start thinking about practicing more.

Knowledge and application (actions) go hand in hand. Imam Ghazali said, "..one third is knowledge, the rest is actions..." But we know a lot, but we do little or nothing with what we know.

Do we not know that we should treat our parents with utmost goodness?

“And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], “uff,” and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.”  [Quran, Al Isra' 17:23]

Yet most of us do not try to fulfill their needs before they can express them, are harsh in our tone sometimes, and don’t give them enough attention. We know what the ayah says, but we do not apply it completely.

We know that Allah says:

“O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” [Quran, Al Baqarah 2:153]

“And… patience is most fitting…” [Quran, Yusuf 12:18]

Yet we are quick to lose our temper.

That is why this du’aa is so important – as a reminder to ourselves that more important than the books we fill with notes are our deeds that weigh on our Scale, and that we need the help of our Rabb for every little thing. We cannot do it without Him.

Here is a hadith to illustrate the importance of this further: The Prophet said,

“On the night that I was ascended up to the heavens, I came upon a people whose lips were being cut off by pliers made from Fire. Every time their lips were severed, they would be brought back and formed again. So I said: ‘O Jibreel, who are these people?’

He said: ‘They are speakers from your nation, who say words but do not do deeds, and who read the Book of Allah yet do not act (on it).”‘ [Al Bayhaqi, Hasan]

How many of us are so fearful of the consequences of not acting upon what we learn that we shiver and seek refuge with Allah from not implementing our knowledge?

We are blessed only if we have the ability to apply the knowledge and benefit from it. How much do we apply compared to what we learn? Some salaf would increase in their application as each day passed. Be careful not to fall into the group of people who acquire knowledge for reasons other than to please Allah.

In a hadith Qudsi in Tirmidhi and An-Nisa'i, it was narrated by Abu Hurayrah that the first three people to enter Hellfire are a martyr, a scholar and a rich person. As for the scholar, the hadith states:

"...[Another] will be a man who has studied [religious] knowledge and has taught it and who used to recite the Quran. He will be brought and Allah will make known to him His favours and he will recognize them. [The Almighty] will say: And what did you do about them? He will say: I studied [religious] knowledge and I taught it and I recited the Quran for Your sake. He will say: You have lied - you did but study [religious] knowledge that it might be said [of you]: He is learned. And you recited the Quran that it might be said [of you]: He is a reciter. And so it was said. Then he will be ordered to be dragged along on his face until he is cast into Hell-fire..."

The task of gaining knowledge was not an easy one, and so it had more value in the past than it does today.

If you are someone who seeks knowledge but feels like there are areas of your life or your character that need work, this du’aa is for you.

“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge which does not benefit, from a heart that does not entertain the fear (of Allah), from a soul that is not satisfied and the supplication that is not answered.” [Sahih Muslim]

Aameen.
