Bismillah
Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance. [Quran, Al Kahf 18:10]
Of all the things worth learning, Quran is the easiest to learn because Allah is the One Who is teaching us Quran.
The Most Merciful (1) Taught the Qur'an, (2) [Quran, Ar-Rahman 57:1-2]
And of the things worth remembering, Quran is the easiest to remember because Allah says so
And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (17)
In Surah Al Qamar, Allah repeated the above 4 times to give emphasis and to remind.
And Quran is the quickest to leave you if you abandon it.
Why people lose it? Because they don't give Quran any priority. Many people had good intentions about learning the Quran and they want to read Quran, but they don't follow up with doing it and if they do it, it is not with consistency (istiqamah).
We all desire to be people of the Quran. To be one, we have to go from wanting, to becoming to beholding the Quran. Then only you can become true people of the Quran, the people who Allah called His family on earth.
The first step #1 -- is to learn how to read properly the entire Quran.
The next step #2 -- is to understand it and follow the guidance.
Alif, Lam, Meem. (1) This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah - (2) [Quran, Al-Baqarah 3:1-2]
What are the things we should do for #2? Among them,
1--The minimum is to read Quran everyday
* 1 juz is the minimum for Muslims who have learned how to read the entire Quran
* 1 to 2 juz for student and teachers of Quran/Islamic studies
* more than 2 juz for memorizers of Quran and ulama' 3 to 6 juz
2--Read the translation of the pages you are going to read that day
3--Take a few pages and start learning a few new words for each round of khatam -- do it in a systematic way, maybe just the ending word or words of each verse.
E.g.
Indeed, Allah is with the patient ones. [Quran, Al Baqarah 2:153]
And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. [Quran, Ibrahim 14:4]
Either you just learn/memorize the last word or the whole sentence
4--At the same time, start taking Arabic class so you will be able to have a direct understanding of the verses.
5--At the same time, learn the tafsir of the Quran so you will have a deeper understanding of the Quran
Set goals and plan how to reach them..start with small goals. Write them down in a dedicated plan/goal notebook. Look back daily and account for unaccomplished goals, try again and again...
A business without setting goals and a plan is doomed to fail. Quran is the same. Our goal is Jannah...how to get there is the Quran.
May Allah grant us tawfiq. Aameen.
