Tomorrow Will Never Come

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

When you keep saying you are busy
Then you are never free
When you keep saying you have no time
Then you will never have time
When you keep saying you will do it tomorrow
Then your tomorrow will never come                    

Everything in this world is perishing. We can see this day and night with our God-given own two eyes. Plants grow and plants die. Animals born and animals die. People born and people die.

إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا كَمَآءٍ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَٱخْتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلْأَرْضِ مِمَّا يَأْكُلُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمُ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زُخْرُفَهَا وَٱزَّيَّنَتْ وَظَنَّ أَهْلُهَآ أَنَّهُمْ قَٰدِرُونَ عَلَيْهَآ أَتَىٰهَآ أَمْرُنَا لَيْلًا أَوْ نَهَارًۭا فَجَعَلْنَٰهَا حَصِيدًۭا كَأَن لَّمْ تَغْنَ بِٱلْأَمْسِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلْءَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍۢ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

The likeness of this present life is as water that We send down out of heaven, and the plants of the earth mingle with it whereof men and cattle eat, till, when the earth has taken on its glitter and has decked itself fair, and its inhabitants think they have power over it, Our command comes upon it by night or day, and We make it stubble, as though yesterday it flourished not. Even so We distinguish the signs for a people who reflect.

It seems just yesterday you brought your baby home from the hospital. She was the delight of your God-given eyes. Now, all of a sudden you find her calling the ambulance and taking you to the emergency hospital. Maybe you never come home again.

Death will overcome us. We don't know when it will come, where it will happen and how it will happen. Thinking that you will be able to take care of things tomorrow is having too long of a hope. Start preparing for it now. You might not see tomorrow. Begin with leaving all acts of disobedience. If you don't pray, you should start praying (at least the 5 prescribed daily prayers)....for the first thing you will be asked in the next life is about your prayer.

Everything in this world will perish and this is a reality. That includes you and I. This reality is a central theme of the Qur'an.

After you and I die, after our children and their children die, and everybody all the way to the end of time die, Allah will continue to exist. Allah Almighty is Endless. We shall see everything we did in this life, like a movie, when we appear before the Judge.

In our insolence and pride we do not see how small and ephemeral is that part of us which is mortal. Our ridiculous pretensions only hurt ourselves.

فَلَمَّآ أَنجَىٰهُمْ إِذَا هُمْ يَبْغُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ ۗ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّمَا بَغْيُكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُم ۖ مَّتَٰعَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَنُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

O men, your insolence is only against yourselves; the enjoyment of this present life, then unto Us you shall return, then We shall tell you what you were doing.

[Qur'an Yunus 10:23]


So, if we seek a successful life, here and the next, we should make our primary focus on the One Whose sake we claim we are seeking our worldly goals.


May Allah guide the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad, Allah bless him and grant him peace, and grant us excellent ending. Ameen.
