Breaking Ties -- Cause of Disorder and Self-Destruction

Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

The fundamental cause of disorder in human society is the sundering of relationships that Allah has joined. When we separate things that are supposed to be together, the natural result is those things fall apart. Individual concerns and collective concerns are meant to be together. If you separate them, then society falls apart. Just as our body and soul are joined together, you can't separate the two lest you die.

Allah has commanded should be joined includes all kinds of relationships -- the one between Allah and His servant, the one between a person and his/her parents and relatives, between him/her and his/her neighbors and friends, between one Muslim and another Muslim, between one human and another human.

Islam means fulfilling one's obligations with regard to these relationships. Deficiency in fulfilling these obligations produces all kinds of disorder among people, and thus the transgressors end up by being destructive for others and for themselves. It is these people who are the losers -- in this world as in the other.

ٱلَّذِينَ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَ ٱللَّـهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مِيثَـٰقِهِۦ وَيَقْطَعُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّـهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ ﴿٢٧

Who break the covenant of Allah after contracting it and sever that which Allah has ordered to be joined and cause corruption on earth. It is those who are the losers. (27)

It is essential for us to maintain the relationships which Allah has commanded us to keep intact.

May Allah enable us to keep and strengthen the ties He commanded us to keep intact. Ameen.
