Al-Latif (The Subtle One)

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

Al-Latif, the Subtle One; The Inexpressible, Unfathomable, He who has full knowledge of the finest and the most accurate mysteries and the deepest and the most fundamental secrets of all things He has created. He is the One Who has the will and power to benefit all of His servants. He is the One Who creates things most subtly, which cannot be understood by people, and He who gives blessings to people in the most subtle ways.

That is Allah, your Lord; there is no deity except Him, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He is Disposer of all things. (102) Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision; and He is the Subtle, the Acquainted. (103)
[Qur'an Al-An'am 6:102-103]

Allah Almighty says on the tongue of Luqman as instructing his son,

[And Luqman said], "O my son, indeed if wrong should be the weight of a mustard seed and should be within a rock or [anywhere] in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted.
[Qur'an Luqman 31:16]

Allah is Subtle with His servants; He gives provisions to whom He wills. And He is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might.
[Qur'an Ash-Shura 42:19]

Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted?
[Qur'an Al-Mulk 67:14]

And remember what is recited in your houses of the verses of Allah and wisdom. Indeed, Allah is ever Subtle and Acquainted [with all things].
[Qur'an Al-Ahzab 33:34]

Allah Almighty is the Only One, to Who both generosity of acts and deeds, and the full knowledge of the finest mysteries of things are combined. He takes care of the baby while still in the mother's womb, inside 3 depths of darkness, and once the baby is born, He ensures for him those who look after him until he grows up and becomes independent from them.

It is characteristic of generosity of deed that it always accompanies the Divine Decree, in order to dilute whatever evil effect and consequences it might have. Whenever someone is doomed to be smitten by an evil distress, Allah's Kindness is bestowed upon him, so as to lighten the grievous impact which afflicts him with the first stroke of the distress.

Al-Latif is the One who always intends good for His servants, decides what is in their benefit and makes easy for them the way to righteousness and piety.

It is out of His Kindness towards mankind that He did not leave them lost in confusion. He sent Prophets and Messengers to convey His Message and teach them how to live a successful life. He has made subject to mankind all things on earth to be in his service in the world and in the Hereafter. Out of His graciousness, whenever one do a good deed, it will be recorded as 10 in his account, but if one does an evil deed, it is only recorded as one evil deed. If he intends to do a good deed and he does not really do it, it will be recorded as one good deed, but if he intends a bad deed and didn't do it, it will be recorded as one good deed in his account.

Allah invites us to look at the wonders of His creation. He brings us our gifts in the subtle of ways.

Do you not see that Allah has sent down rain from the sky and the earth becomes green? Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted.
[Qur'an Al-Hajj 22:63]

Looking to Allah as bestower of gifts is a key to the love of Allah. As the ulama' have said that the souls have been predisposed to love whoever that are good to them. You love people because of beauty in their beings, physically or in terms or character, or they have done beautiful actions to you. The beauty of whoever you love is the creation of Allah. If you realize every kindness of people to you is a shadow of the kindness of Allah, then you should realize that our love should be purely for Allah.

...But those who believe, love Allah more (than anything else)...
[Qur'an Al-Baqarah 2:165]

How many of us realize the blessing of forgetfulness? Imagine, if you remember what happen in the last year, let alone each and every happiness and sorrows in your life all at once, you won't be able to carry yourself up. But Allah made you forget many many things. This is a gift for you.

Whatever blessings we enjoy is from Allah Alone and we can never ever able to count His blessings.

When we realize that everything is a gift from Allah to us, we don't see that we are giving Him anything that He does not already have and that is the beginning of sincerity of worshipping Allah.

If one wants to have a good portion of this Name, one should not be selfish and stingy. He should be kind, courteous, gentle and generous with people, in words and in deeds.

Ya Latif, You are the Knower of the finest mysteries and secrets, deliver us from all that we fear. O Allah, be gracious and kind towards us at the time when the angels will question us in the grave about our deeds. Ameen.

Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
