Spice of Life

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

Do you like variety? Who doesn't like variety? It is the spice of life. It keeps life interesting. People like variety of foods, clothes, entertainment, electronics, and so on. That's why there are many malls, shopping centers, restaurants, entertainment places, new releases of this and that, various online shopping outlets, and so on, all to fulfill the ever increasing demand. Consumerism is at its peak.

Apply this principle of variety in learning the Deen and performing acts of worship. Don't just be satisfied with performing your five or six daily prayers. Don't just be satisfied with reciting the 5 or 10 surahs for the past 10-40 years in your prayers.

In between everyday activities, let’s spend some time to read the Qur'an, the tafsir of the Qur'an, the sayings of the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, the lives of the pious predecessors, etc. Let’s reflect upon the verses and implement them in our lives. Let’s share the knowledge that we gain by writing blogs and sending emails, etc. If you’re a good orator, give weekly or bi-weekly talks in your locality.

Add to your list of surahs you have memorized. Bring variety to your selection of surahs for your prayer to please your Creator. If we are ashamed to present ourselves with the same clothing/fashion or accessories to people, we should be more ashamed before Allah to repeat the same few surahs in our prayers.

If you have learned how to recite the Qur'an with proper tajweed, teach others and start with your family.

We don't have to travel far to learn and teach Qur'an. Now it is easier than ever to do this to learn and teach the Deen. The technology, mobile phones, internet and wifi are here. They are tests for you. Those who waste their time on the internet have failed the test.

The key to getting these so many things done in a day is to manage your time properly. Go to sleep early so you have good enough sleep to wake up before Fajr and don't go back to sleep after Fajr but spend the early morning hours to read Qur'an and learning the Deen. You can get a lot done in a short time because Allah has blessed the morning for us. It was narrated that Rasulullah [صلى الله عليه وسلم] supplicated: "O Allah bless the mornings of my people."

May Allah bless our time and grant us tawfiq. Ameen.

Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
