Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
Allah Almighty says,
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا ﴿٧[Qur'an Al-Kahf 18:7]
Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed. (7)
The world is most beautiful to youth -- it's joys, pleasures, temptations. And typically, the young has the most trouble getting rid of materialism from their heads -- and particularly the young men.
When young men hang out together, they basically want to enjoy the beauty of this life -- eat, play sports, trash talk, goof off, looking at girls or cars, etc. And if they are non believers they are even worse. When young men get together, a lot of times trouble happens. But the young men in Surah Kahf were very different. They got together with a purpose -- to protect their iman (faith). So they ran away together from a society that would not allow them to practice their faith.
May Allah strengthen our youths and guide them. Ameen.
