Let's Read Surah Kahf Today (Friday) -- Importance of Strong Determination in Seeking Knowledge

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

Assalaamu alaykum

Knowledge is not going to be handed to us on a silver platter. It comes with much difficult trials and require strong determination and much patience.

The Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said,”Whoever goes down a path searching for knowledge, Allah will make it easy for him the road to Paradise.” [Muslim]

If seeking knowledge is easy, then so many people would be doing it. The fact is that those who are on the path of knowledge are blessed but you need strong determination to be successful. So many people fell by the wayside because they don't have a strong determination.

The story of Musa and Al-Khidr (peace be upon them) in Surah Kahf is teaching us the importance of determination in seeking knowledge. Thus, we are being reminded about this every week for those who follow the Sunnah of reading Surah al-Kahf every Friday.

When Musa (peace be upon him) found out there was someone who is more learned than himself he was determined to find him. Musa said he wouldn’t stop until he got to the place where he would meet al-Khidr (peace be upon him).

And [mention] when Moses said to his servant, "I will not cease [traveling] until I reach the junction of the two seas or continue for a long period." (60)
[Qur'an, Al-Kahf 18:60]

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah bless him) was determined to get knowledge and wouldn’t eat until he found it.

Such are the true seekers of knowledge.

May Allah grant us the determination in seeking knowledge. Ameen.

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wasallam.

And Allah knows best and is Most Wise, and He alone grants success, and to Him is the final return of all.

Wassalaam
