A Blessing of Righteous Companions

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

On the Day of Judgment, the best of friends will be the worst of enemies except for the people of taqwa. Allah Most High says,

ٱلْأَخِلَّآءُ يَوْمَئِذِۭ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلَّا ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous

[Quran, Az-Zukhruf 43:67]

Think about this, your best friends, those whom you gave your life for, those whom you helped unhesitatingly, if both of you don't have iman and taqwa, if you haven't helped each other in iman and taqwa, they will be suing you in the court of Allah. They will become enemies because they are trying to save themselves by blaming other people but one category will be saved, that is the righteous, the people of taqwa, the people who truly have faith in Allah, their friendship that was based on Allah and upon the Shari'ah of Allah. They will be friends in judgment and in Jannah as well insha Allah. 

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, "A person is upon the religion of his khaleel (close friend), so look to whom you befriend."

[Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi]

So, choose friends that will accompany you all the way to Jannah and don't choose friends that will become your enemies in the Day of Judgment. Choose people of piety so that you can be with them in this world and the next world.

May Allah make us righteous and grant us righteous companions. Aameen.
