A Juz A Day

Assalaamu alaykum

Ramadhan Kareem!

The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.  (Al Baqarah 2:185)

We should take this opportunity to really connect with Quran this month. We don't know if we will see next Ramadhan.

The purpose of we learning how to read Quran properly is, not just to read or to feel the beauty of the Quran, but  more importantly to follow its guidance. The only way we can do this is through understanding. This is a long process but the first step is to read the translation and listen to Quran recitation of the entire Quran. This Ramadhan is the perfect time to start a new habit which hopefully Allah will count us as His elect family of the Quran with great reward of the highest Jannah.

The self corrected homework below will help you stay consistent. Please do it.

*Take a juz a day, and read the meanings/translation of the Quran* (use Sahih International for English)
Goto quran.com or tanzil.net and select Sahih International translation

*Then listen to Shaykh Husary* the juz that you have read above. Listen while looking at the mushaf (Quran). So you will be familiar with the verses and tajweed.

Try to put aside 2-3 hours a day to do this. Don't think that this is too much with all your other responsibilities because Allah who creates time. He can bless your time. All you have to do is put in a sincere effort and have sincere intention (i.e to do for Allah's sake, to please Him only, to come close to Him...). Ask ourself, if I don't do this now, then when? There is never a time if we don't make time. Procrastination will not accomplish anything except falling into shaytan's tricks to steer us away from good and worship of Allah.

The best time to do this is in the early morning (from the last third of the night). Not only you will accomplish more during this blessed hours, you will reap the reward of Ramadhan worship, which reward is multiplied in the month of Ramadhan, (also  you might catch the laylatul qadr night and greater reward). What a good way to catch up on what we have missed out! And you will truly love the Quran and taste the sweetness of being with the Quran in shaa Allah.

*The key to success is not to fall behind. Again. Don't procrastinate!* If you missed a day, catch up the next day but you should not fall behind more than a day.

Since today is day 2 of Ramadhan, do 1.5  juz (30 pages) today and 1.5 juz tomorrow.

May Allah grant you tawfiq/success. Aameen
