بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
The rule of modesty applies to both men and women and the need is the same for both.
"Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: And God is well acquainted with all that they do."
"And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husband's sons, their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments.
And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards God, that ye may attain Bliss."
Quran An-Nur 24:30-31
Modesty is not only a good form and refined manners, it also guards our spiritual good. Our brief life on this earth, private, public and social life, should focus on our spiritual welfare, so that we may attain the real success and bliss. Someone who is concerned about the next life will take the rulings of modesty very seriously.
Even when we are in private, we should observe modesty because Allah Most High is more deserving of our shame. A man asked the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, about being naked when alone. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said that he should be more ashamed before Allah than he is ashamed before people. Allah, not only He knows everything, hears everything and sees everything, hidden and apparent, but He is also present. People who are aware that Allah is present in everything, they are the people who are ashamed to disobey Him.
May Allah grant us success in this life and the next. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
