Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
I was out today walking around Tahrir Square, Cairo, where all the protesting are taking place. I was probably the only foreign looking person walking but there was no danger because Egyptians generally are pleasant towards foreigners and more so towards Malaysians. Whenever I walked past some Egyptians, they would speak a few Malaysian words to attract my attention and occasionally I would snap a few pictures and they would ask me to snap their pictures.
Egyptians in general have a special liking towards Malaysians which stems from the relationship they (or their fathers or grandfathers) had with Malaysians about 40 years ago in the era of the assassinated President Anwar Sadat, when Malaysia aided them with man forces during their October 1973 war against Israel. The Egyptians were victorious.
Life is not going to be normal again in Egypt but there are signs that it will be better, inshaAllah. You can see the true Egyptians--courageous and brave, paving the way. Even small children are coming out with their moms to participate in this historic moments! MashaAllah.
May Allah give support and victory to the Egyptians and strengthen the Ummah of Muhammad, Allah bless him and grant him peace. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. JazakAllahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
