What You Should Look For In A Prospective Spouse

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

Allah Almighty says,

ٱلْخَبِيثَـٰتُ لِلْخَبِيثِينَ وَٱلْخَبِيثُونَ لِلْخَبِيثَـٰتِ ۖ وَٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتُ لِلطَّيِّبِينَ وَٱلطَّيِّبُونَ لِلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ مُبَرَّءُونَ مِمَّا يَقُولُونَ ۖ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ ﴿٢٦

Bad statements are for bad people (or bad women for bad men) and bad people for bad statements (or bad men for bad women). Good statements are for good people (or good women for good men) and good people for good statements (or good men for good women), such (good people) are innocent of (every) bad statement which they say, for them is Forgiveness, and Rizqun Karîm (generous provision i.e.Paradise). (26)

Forgiving, tolerant, even-tempered

Responsibility
Protectiveness
Cooperation
Decent, stable family
Good appearance, and bodily cleanliness

Characteristics to avoid in a spouse

Irreligious, immoral
Short-tempered, ill-tempered
Arrogant, conceited
Unsatisfied
Miserly
Tyrant in word or deed
Lacks understanding and compassion
Immature, weak-minded
Constantly asks for or threatens divorce
Impatient
Irresponsible
Loafer, grumbler, complainer
Hypochondriac, malingerer
Habitually criticizes or belittles
Reminds you of favors done
Pines for a beloved
Covets everything pressures to buy
Talks too much
Liar

Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.
