Post Day of Arafah

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

The amazing reward of fasting on the day of Arafah is that it expiates the (minor) sins of the previous year and of the coming year [Muslim] but what about your major sins? All your major sins can be forgiven by you doing something beautiful: sincere repentance (tawbah).

Allah Almighty has made it very clear that His forgiveness and mercy is very extensive.

Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (53) And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped. (54) And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive, (55)
[Qur'an, Az-Zumar 39:53-55]

However, that the time of tawbah has a deadline - it has to be well before death. If someone were to think of making his tawbah after death on the Day of Judgment, or is simply filled with remorse over what awful things he had done to himself, then, that will bring him no benefit.

Ask Allah to help you say and mean this beautiful supplication everyday for the remaining days of your life.

Astaghfirullaa-hal-ladhee laa ilaaha illaa huwal-ḥayyul-qayyoomu wa atoobu ilayh

I seek Allah’s forgiveness, besides Whom, none has the right to be worshipped except He, The Ever Living, The Self-Subsisting and Supporter of all, and I turn to Him in repentance.

The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: Whoever says [above]… Allah would forgive him even if he was one who fled during the advance of an army. [Abu Dawood, At-Tirmidhi]

May Allah enable us to turn to Him in sincere repentance. Ameen.

Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
