Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
How much you lose by keeping a dog...
Narrated Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him): Allah's Apostle (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, "Whoever keeps a dog, one Qirat of the reward of his good deeds is deducted daily, unless the dog is used for guarding a farm or cattle." Abu Hurayra (in another narration) said from the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace), "unless it is used for guarding sheep or farms, or for hunting." Narrated Abu Hazim from Abu Hurayra: The Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, "A dog for guarding cattle or for hunting."
[Bukhari]
What is a Qirat?
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, "Whoever follows the funeral procession and offers the funeral prayer for it, will get a reward equal to one Qirat, and whoever attends it till burial, will get a reward equal to two Qirat.'' It was asked, "What are two Qirat?'' He (Allah bless him and grant him peace) replied, "Equal to two huge mountains.''
[Bukhari and Muslim]
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
