The Heart of Islam
Allah Almighty has chosen Islam as our way of life. Obedience is the heart of Islam. It is the key to the highest ranks we can dream of. "And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions." [Quran An-Nisaa 4:69]
Sayyiduna Ali (r.a) was concerned about obeying Allah and asked the Prophet ﷺ "If a matter befalls us concerning which there is no command nor prohibition, what should we do?"
The Prophet ﷺ did not say to do what you want but said, "Consult your scholars and worshipers".
So, if you're unsure of what Allah wants you to do, seek guidance from scholars. Our relationship with Allah is one of servitude, and we must ask about what we do not know. We cannot assume that being a good person guarantees entry to Paradise. While Allah’s mercy may grant us entry, it is not a certainty. This is not the proper process.
Simply reading the Quran and Hadiths does not mean we fully understand what Allah wants from us.
Most people might see a beautiful tree as just a trunk, branches, and leaves, while a skilled carpenter sees potential for furniture, such as a chair or an ornate bookshelf because he is trained and equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge. Similarly, we must learn our religion from scholars to avoid misguidance and harm.
May Allah make us among His best obedient slaves and join us with prophets, the siddiqun, the martyrs, and the righteous. Aameen.
