Allah is testing us ...
What Allah has decreed for you, you must accept it. It is easy to accept when everything is fine, but not so easy when things are difficult. The way to accept your situation is to remember why Allah created us -- to worship Him. [Quran, Adh-Dhariyat 51:56] So in both situations you turn to Allah and do what is pleasing to Him. Of course we are allowed to be happy or sad. These are created human emotions but what we are not allowed to do is to question Allah's decree.
Allah is testing you with your riches and with your poverty. Your wealth belongs to Allah. He gives to whomever He likes and takes away from whomever He likes. So if you are blessed with abundance, be grateful and give in abundance. Don't think twice about it. If you are poor, give and be patient -- even half a date is charity. Your smile is charity.
May Allah make us doers of good. Aameen
