بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu Alaykum
I pray that you are well.
Can't we just share? Why are we so selfish? We are like those egocentric 3 or 4 year olds--everything is mine, mine! You cannot have it--it is mine! Those years are long gone--you are an adult now. Remember, NOTHING is yours--EVERYTHING belongs to Allah, the Almighty. He can take it back from you at anytime--"Be" and you left with nothing. This life is not the end of the story. "...and the present life is but the joy of delusion" Quran Al-Hadid 57:20.
You might be able to get away with everything in this life, prosper in this life, feeling comfortable in this life but remember everything will perish one day. We will be in front of Him one day and He is Just--nothing will be left unaccounted for. Even a dog will get its justice in the Day of Judgment. It is not going to be a pretty scene if you are selfish, unmindful of others and hurting others.
The difference between those who have and give and those who have and don't give is like a tree which bear abundant fruits and a barren fruit tree. What would you do to the barren fruit tree? You remove it and replace it with another one!
We are not even a speck compared to this earth, let alone His whole creation. So He doesn't need us, we need Him. He is most Generous and at the same time He is most Just. We should then always try to seek His pleasure and try to gain His love. He bless you with something and not to others to test you to see if you truly believe. If you truly believe everything about Him, then you would not have any qualms sharing what He gives you. That set you apart from those who are not telling the truth about believing Him. Our life on this earth is solely to worship Him--how then you can say you worship Him when you can't share what He gave you, when you are hesitant to give, when you are afraid to do the right thing? SubhanAllah!
"The believers are those who believe in God and His Messenger, then have not doubted, and have struggled with their possessions and their selves in the way of God; those -- they are the truthful ones." Qur'an Al-Hujuraat 49:15
"Your possessions and your children are only a trial, and Allah it is with Whom is a great reward. Therefore be careful of (your duty to) Allah as much as you can, and hear and obey and spend, it is better for your souls; and whoever is saved from the greediness of his soul, those are the successful." Qur'an At-Taghaabun 64:15-16
"Till, when death comes to one of them, he says, 'My Lord, return me; haply I shall do righteousness in that I forsook.' Nay, it is but a word he speaks; and there; behind them, is a barrier until the day that they shall be raised up. For when the Trumpet is blown, that day there shall be no ties of relationship between them, nor will they ask of each other. Then he whose scales are heavy -- they are the successful., and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their souls, abiding in Hell." Qur'an The Believers 22:99-103
And Allah knows best.
May Allah give us tawfiq. Ameen.
Wassalaam.
