In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
It is a great blessing to love to read, especially if you love to recite the Qur'an.
Inculcating the love to read in our children is one of the best gifts that parents can give to their children. For sure their children will never get bored that could start their mischiefs. How many times you hear your children say, "I am bored!" when they were growing up? But if they love books, they won't have those three-word sentence in their speech and vocabulary. Because the books always keep them company.
Unfortunately, many parents nowadays stock up their children with toys and electronics, some quite expensive, and which become obsolete after a little while, rather than books, which are relatively inexpensive (and even free at the library). And yet you still hear people complaining about being bored. Why? Because they don't read.
If you have already missed the boat for your children when they were little, or even if you don't like to read, it is not too late. You can still help your children and yourself to develop the reading habit.
Of course we have to choose what we read and what we give our children to read depending on their age and level of maturity and intelligence. But we will never go wrong with the Qur'an, no matter what age group.
We have been told that the whole Qur'an is ahsan-ul-hadith, the best of what is said. The word Hadith literally means the speech or account that is related.
Allah Almighty says,
ٱللَّـهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْحَدِيثِ كِتَـٰبًا مُّتَشَـٰبِهًا .... ﴿٢٣[Qur'an Az-Zumar 39:23]
Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration...
The outcome of calling Qur'an ahsan-ul-hadith, is that, out of everything human beings say or relate, the Qur'an remains the most eloquent.
Preoccupation with the Qur'an is one of the most virtuous acts of worship, whether by reciting it, pondering on its meanings, or working according to its teachings.
The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, have received this Noble Quran, realizing the honor which Allah Almighty, has bestowed upon them. Therefore, they embarked upon it, reciting it during part of the hours of the night, and during the day. People passed by them at night, while they were reciting the Qur'an, and their recitation were like the buzzing of bees. They made it the nourishment of their souls, the food of their hearts, and the comfort of their eyes. Their souls became purified by it, and their secret selves transformed.
[Qur'an Fatir 35:29-30]
Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never perish - (29) That He may give them in full their rewards and increase for them of His bounty. Indeed, He is Forgiving and Appreciative. (30)
May Allah bless us with His generosity upon us and our families and make us recite a good part of the Noble Qur'an everyday. Ameen.
Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
