In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum
Dear Friends
I pray that you are well.
Guidance and straying are from Allah alone. When Allah intends to guide someone, He makes his heart tilt towards what is good and right; and when He decides to let someone go astray, He turns his heart away from the straight path.
Allah's Messenger, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
There is no heart which is not there in between the two of Allah's fingers-He makes it firm on the truth as long as He wills, and turns it away from the truth when He wills.
Those who are well-grounded in knowledge are never proud of their knowledge, however perfect it may be, nor of the strength of their faith. Instead, they constantly pray to Allah seeking steadfastness from Him, and His grace and mercy.
Therefore, those who are concerned about how to remain firm in their faith, they go to the source - asking and begging from Allah for steadfastness.
The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to ask Allah,
يا مقلب القلوب ثبت قلوبنا غلى دينك
Ya Muqallibalqulub, thabbit qulubbana 'ala deenika
O Reverser of hearts, make our hearts firm on the Faith chosen by You.
May Allah make us firm in our Faith. Ameen.
