Fasting and Worship in Ramadhan

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

Fasting in the month of Ramadhan is one of the most important supports of Islam that we stand on. If we don't fast, we are throwing away one crucial support of our religion and we will eventually fall.

Fasting is also a means to cleanse our body, purify our souls and bring us closer to the Lord Mighty and Majestic. If we do it right, following the ways of the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the righteous people, we will benefit tremendously from fasting this Ramadhan.

The month of Ramadhan has arrived and will leave us very quickly. We should strive to do as much worship as we can like increase charity, increase prayers (praying the sunnah payers before and after each obligatory prayers and night prayers) and reciting and learning the Qur'an. InshaAllah, these acts and routine will stay with you after Ramadhan. We should pick some of our bad character traits, behaviors and habits, and work on removing them this month such as anger, bad temper, miserliness, envy/jealousy, wastefulness, bad speech, bad curiosity, procrastination, unorganized, hatred, arrogance, etc.

Be acutely aware of how you spend your time. Before you do anything, ask yourself, "Is this act going to take me to Paradise or Hell?" This month is so precious and rewarding that you should not be wasting your time with unnecessary emails, idle chats and postings, and you should not be doing any unnecessary travel, but spend your time in much individual worship.

Allah Most High says,

"The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided." (Al-Baqarah 2:185-186)
May Allah forgive our sins, increase us in our worship and accept our works. May Allah bring us closer to Him. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
